Ata0's Admin Application

Recommended Posts

In-game Username: Ata0
Discord username: probablyata
Characters you play: Lucian Agharna

On average, how many hours do you expect to admin per week:
-around 15-22 per week

Days you are available to admin on:
-Every day of the week, ussualy in the afternoon.

How old are you?
-18

Do you have any SS14 experience outside of Wizard's Den servers, or any SS13 experience?
-Yes. I played a little bit on TG SS13 and some other servers on SS14,
but i have the most amount of playtime on Wizard's Den servers.

Do you have prior administration experience (SS13/SS14 experience preferred, please also post a way for us to verify this)?
-No.

Have you ever been banned from any SS14 or SS13 servers?
-No.

Admins have the ability to perform various tasks which are not available to the average player. An incomplete list of these tasks is: in-game rule enforcement, in-game events, ban appeals, and out-of-game rule enforcement through things like replay/log reviews in response to player reports. With these, and any other tasks you're aware of in mind, answer the following two questions.

What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin?
-My main interests are in-game event planning and rule enforcements, im also willing to do replay and log reviewing, helping out any Ahelps and resolve those situations.

What are you least interested in doing as an admin?
-I am fine with ban appeals but out of all the duties this one ranks as the least interesting for me.

Answer the following questions in detail, so we can get a better idea of how you'd approach adminning.

What role do you think game admins serve on our servers?
In my opinion, i believe game admins are there for the players enjoyment, to enhance it and keep it from declining.
(by enforcing the servers rules, punishing/warning players that break them and starting up events)

Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14?
the game has given me a ton of enjoyment from just playing but also from admins. All for the price of free.
I wish to pay back the community and give someone else an unique experience which a normal game can't give.

How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the servers?
In general, i think the current RP status on the servers is satisfactory.
it isn't perfect, sometimes things do get out of hand the more players are in a server,
which is why i think admins are needed to steer things in the correct path again.
With LRP i think there could be improvements but in general it is ok, like i mentioned.
The same goes for MRP, where there is a pretty noticable difference between LRP to MRP in terms of RP in a good way.

Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?
I believe that events that include all of the players are the most positive an admin can do, even some small stuff can have a big impact on the enjoyment of the players. For example just responding to a fax made by a player can make their day. some other stuf that also impact positively are helping out new players if they confused with some of the mechanics, fixing bugs and glitches that happen in the round and more.

Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this?
None that i can think of.

Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it?
Yes. there was a side event where a couple of syndicate agents tried to survive in a planet. I was lucky and i was able to grab a ghost role and play as a syndicate cadet moth.
it was fun surviving the wastelands, we kind of sucked and died within the first 10 minutes, but the admin healed us up, which was very kind of them.
At the end came a nuclear winter where we had to hold of a bunch of blue crystal men trying to break in, as a last ditch effort everyone barged out of their room, while i hid in a crate. I heard an explosion, and as i walked out, everyone was dead, i got a message saying i was the last one alive...  1 minute later i was teleported and got to RP with an admin playing what i presumed to be a god. Where i confesed that i hid like a coward while everyone else fought and they told me May your next life be peacefull. I still remember that experience to this day and i don't know which admin it was, but i would like to thank them for that amazing experience.

The following are scenarios, respond with how you would handle each as an administrator. Respond with the assumption that you are an administrator with full access to the admin tools, and that you have all the knowledge needed to use these tools. Scenarios intentionally leave out information so that you can describe how different details would affect your response. Respond in detail, explain the reasons behind decisions you make and describe any assumptions you are making. When you need to make an assumption, it is preferred for you to describe how different assumptions would affect your actions.

It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to "do something funny".

Because this is only the start of the round i would just ignore them. i don't want to majorly disrupt the round and ruin it for the antagonists. The 3 observers would have to wait for a ghost role the game itself spawned randomly, or if i was feeling generous and the round started to become stale after some time (by either the traitors doing too good of a job not being noticed or all of them getting caught) i would make one of the items that normaly can't become conscious a ghost role, like a hat or a plushie, this would satisfy the 3 observers and make things interesting for the station, this also doesn't disrupt the round.

This scenario takes place on LRP. The Head of Security has decided to coup the Captain. The Head of Personnel agrees with the Head of Security and has taken up arms in case it is necessary to aid in effecting the arrest of the Captain. The Captain is hiding with the Quartermaster in the cargo shuttle to avoid the Clown who has stolen the captains saber as a non-antag. There are five people named in this scenario. Please describe what actions, if any, you would take in relation to each, and why.

Firstly, i would ahelp the HoS and The HoP and get their response on why they are trying to overthrow the captain, just a simple message asking them their reasons for the coup
If the reasoning was insufficient i would warn the HoS and tell them to stop, if the player had no previous offenses i would warn them, if they had previous offenses i would role ban them at the end of the round which they could appeal, as for the HoP, i would only warn them to not randomly help someone start a coup, but nothing else. I would probably do a CC announcment for the station to arrest the HoS,

If the reasoning was sufficient and the Captain was in the wrong, then i would let the round play out where the hos arrests the captain, as for the shuttle problem, i would steer the shuttle and dock it back to the station so they couldn't hide, after the round, depending on what they did that lead to the hos wanting to coup them, i would either warn or role ban the captain, the quartermaster would be let of, since they only hid with the captain.

as for the clown,  Depending on what they were planning, if the clown only stole the captains saber and that was all, i would not take any action agains the clown, those types of cases should be handled IC, if it was found out they did try to kill the captain or anyone else (i would check the logs to see if the clown had damaged the captain using the sword or anyone else), i would ahelp them and for a first offense warn them to not do it again, and if its a repeat offense then temporarily ban them.

You are ahelping a player about an issue. The player has no prior noted issues. A few days earlier, an admin had told you that this type of situation should result in a temporary ban for a first offense, and you are confident that this situation is not substantially different from the type that admin was describing. During the ahelp, another admin pings you on Discord with a link to the ongoing ahelp and tells you to just indefinitely ban them and make them appeal. Excluding trialmins and headmins, all admins are equally "ranked". A headmin is not currently available.

I would first try to verify what the first admin told me (Checking the rules myself, consulting other admins including the 2 already mentioned, mentioning the temporary ban to the second admin and vice versa.) , if it is in fact true, then i would temporarily ban the ahelped player. i would also do the same if i had no way of confirming if a temporary or indefinite ban was the correct punishment for the person, since they had no prior offenses. If the other admins agree on a indefinite ban with a chance of appeal then that's the punishment i would give to the player. worst case, they will be unbanned after a certain amount of time or i myself can unban them and apologize for the mistake. (if later on its found out there was a mistake)

forgot to mention a few things to this section.
Even if the reasoning was sufficient, the HoS should have first consulted with the other heads if the captain is in the right state of mind instead of deciding it on the spot by himself with just the HoP's agreement. i would tell the hos this in the ahelp chat. The rest goes the same as i mentioned, where i would either warn or job ban the captain at the end of the round depending on previous offenses, the actual rules they broke and so on. If the captain had not actually broken any rules, and the reasons for the coup were IC (roleplaying insanity is one example), the same would apply where i would tell the hos to get the heads majority vote instead of just deciding on their own, difference being that the captain at the end of the round doesn't get warned/banned, since they didn't break any rules.

Same thing applies with the shuttle where i would just dock it back with the station, since the captain is suppose to not leave the station (so that antagonists can actually do their objectives) Small thing i forgot to mention, if either the captain or the QM decided to undock again and fly back into space i would repeat the process of docking them back on the station 1 or 2 more times, where after if they still tried to fly off, i would ahelp the one piloting and tell them to stop flying away from the station, if they still kept on trying to fly off i would dock them and break the shuttle in some way  (breaking the computer for example).

I think that's everything i wanted to add to that.
