Ricarten12 - Unprofessional Security and Complaints

Recommended Posts

Role(s): Security and Command
Length of ban: Indefinite \ didn't get a length
Events leading to the ban:   We find an double es sword off a syndicate player and I decide to take it around for a stroll, much to HOS's protest. I have also used rubber bullets to stop prisoners from escaping / greytide loitering in sec, which I don't believe are illegal to use normally? There was one or two sec off who kept taking things from the armory/warden's office area, which I cuffed them later to get the items back. I was being harsh to some of the prisoners, but that was because they were confirmed syndicate or repeat offenders. I didn't get an exact reason or message for the ban so I'm just going off the most significant events here.
Reason the ban should be removed: Going off with the double es sword (and losing it I should add), is unprofessional as it as against HOS's wish, but I believe my actions beyond that were what you would expect from a Warden. I was a pretty hated Warden that shift not because I wasn't doing my job. There were many secoff who kept screaming and hurling insults at me in panic for not opening up the armory with no confirmed nukies or threats on the station. Few more would run into warden's office or armory to take things as well, which I later confronted to take back. I was pretty angry at HOS for not paying attention and letting random people into my office/armory, so I apologize if my language got colorful. HOS's reason to report me is completely justified, I shouldn't be going around with syndicate contraband as Warden. But I feel like the complaints added to my report are empty and are more angry at the way I roleplay as Warden than if I was fulfilling my role/job or not. I will absolutely be more mindful that warden is a command role (or in any command role) and will be treated as such if I ever get that chance again. Thank you for reading my appeal.

First of all, The ban is not indefinite. The total length of the ban appears to have been thirty days.
It will expire 2023-November-17th.

I have some concerns regarding your history of being warned for these types of incidents, as well as your general behaviour when playing as any form of role with a moddicum of power.

Abusing your authority over a clown, arresting them for no reason and spamming the laugh emote.
Dragging the nuke around as the captain claiming you were going to nuke detroit. (Which you were warned to take command roles more seriously over)

Then we come to your appeal.

Ban Reason: Prior note history and using contraband as security.

There are rules that security and command have to follow, that general crewmates do not.

"Command and Security are held to a higher standard.
Command & Security roles are held to a higher standard of play. It is easy to ruin the game for other players as these roles, therefore they are generally more restrictive and given less leeway on the amount of disruption they are allowed to cause."

1. Be competent - If you sign up for a Command or Security role, you are expected to know the basics of the game, your job, and the job(s) you supervise, if any. Failure to know your job or how to play the game in general as Command or Security is liable to result in a job ban.

3. Uphold the Law & maintain order - Do not engage in disruptive or lawbreaking behavior as Security or Command or simply allow/encourage disruptive or lawbreaking behavior to happen. Security will be expected to intervene into criminal activity, while command is at minimum expected to report criminal activity to security. Both Security and Command will attempt to maintain order.

By Taking the Contraband weapon "around for a stroll" You are violating both of these rules.
Energy swords and Double Energy Swords are ilegal, and heavily considered to be a High Risk item.

You do not get to pick and choose what stays in evidence as far as contraband is concerned.
Contraband should be locked away within the armoury or an evidence locker.

As you so aptly put, By taking the energy sword out of the brig, "For a stroll" You also ended up Loosing it.

This introduces further risk to the crew, and Highlights the second part of 3. and the entirity of 1.

As things stand. I find this ban given your prior history, to be fair if not lenient.

This has been given to the administration team to vote on, I will provide an update after the voting has ended.

Voting has concluded.

Consensus is to Deny this appeal, you will have to wait out the month timer.

Take this time to thoroughly read through the security and command rules found at : https://wiki.spacestation14.io/wiki/Server_Rules

If there is future incidents that would result in a Role Ban, given the length of this one I would not be surprised if it was to be appeal only.
