TherapyGoth
In-game Username: TherapyGoth Discord username: TherapyGoth Characters you play: Mars Forsithe, Nibbles-Her-PDA, Warm-Presence, (and seldom) Lyophila Veroci and Lavender Niima-Deesh On average, how many hours do you expect to admin per week: 10 Days you are available to admin on: My schedule can be inconsistent but I am typically available every day of the week other than friday after 8pmCST How old are you? 24 Do you have any SS14 experience outside of Wizard's Den servers, or any SS13 experience? I have played maybe 5 hours on Bee Station on ss13 Do you have prior administration experience (SS13/SS14 experience preferred, please also post a way for us to verify this)? I do not. Have you ever been banned from any SS14 or SS13 servers? I have been banned from the Wizards network once pretty early on in my time playing because I didn’t read the rules thoroughly at the time. It was appealed on the forums a few days after. Admins have the ability to perform various tasks which are not available to the average player. An incomplete list of these tasks is: in-game rule enforcement, in-game events, ban appeals, and out-of-game rule enforcement through things like replay/log reviews in response to player reports. With these, and any other tasks you're aware of in mind, answer the following two questions. What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin? Making sure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable time, through assisting with ahelps and creating events. What are you least interested in doing as an admin? Dealing with toxic players lashing out through ahelp, though I acknowledge it will happen and it’s just part of being an admin. Answer the following questions in detail, so we can get a better idea of how you'd approach adminning. What role do you think game admins serve on our servers? To ensure that the servers are a safe and fun place for everyone to enjoy, through warning or punishing rulebreakers, answering questions and creating fun events. Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14? I am incredibly passionate about this game and I want to keep it a safe and fun place for everyone. I want to provide a positive admin experience when I can, being gentle and understanding with people when possible. How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the servers? I think that LRP is firmly in its chaotic place, though there are some people on occasion that take it as no roleplay which I think can ruin some people’s immersion or experience in the game. MRP is in a good spot for the most part, but I am concerned about the recent influx of new players, some not taking it past LRP which I know has made a chunk of the community hesitant about its recent growth. Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact? Gently warning people when they need nothing at the moment more than a simple warning, rather than being overly firm and creating enjoyable and interesting in-game events for people to RP through. Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this? I have had a few negative experiences with admins in game, and the biggest thing that I would do to prevent other players from having a similar negative experience is doing my best to be patient, understanding and gentle where applicable. Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it? I had an idea for something I wanted to do in-game for my character Warm-Presence, and I brainstormed with Nairod to see what was possible. I needed an admin's assistance because I wanted to do a big event to really stir some emotions in the people I tend to RP with. He went above and beyond what we had talked about, making a really fun and interesting event that was really fun to go back and watch the replay of, reading the chat of the ghosts following him and seeing all the pieces fall into place. The following are scenarios, respond with how you would handle each as an administrator. Respond with the assumption that you are an administrator with full access to the admin tools, and that you have all the knowledge needed to use these tools. Respond in detail, explain the reasons behind decisions you make and describe any assumptions you are making. When you need to make an assumption, it is preferred for you to describe how differences in the assumption would affect your actions. It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to "do something funny". I would select the traitors and contact them through ahelp, flavoring it as a higherup from cybersun, telling them who their fellow agents are and giving them additional fun objectives for a little extra TC, like having them coordinate disguised as clowns to cause chaos in part of the station, or organizing a Payday style heist to grab some things from the vault. You see a clown using crayon to write on the floor in front of security. The clown writings are negative things about security, like "shitsec". A secoff tells the clown that they're being arrested for vandalism, stuns them, and cuffs them. Before the secoff is able to get the clown into the brig, a passenger slips the secoff, causing them to lose their baton, then uses the baton to stun another secoff that comes to help as the clown runs away. The passenger escapes through disposals. Having heard an AOS radio callout, the detective enters maintenance near disposals and shoots the passenger to crit. There are four players in this scenario, the clown, the passenger, the secoff, and the detective. I would first see if the passenger is an antagonist, if they are not I would warn them through ahelp that what they are doing/did was self antag behavior and to not do it again. After the detective shoots the passenger into crit I would contact them to tell them that I understand the passenger is being frustrating, but they have no reason to escalate the situation to the point of crititng the passenger and to, next time, go with the arrest on sight unless they are threatened by a weapon. I would also watch to make sure they give the clown a fair time in prison (with the wording of the question it sounds like they are taking the clown into the permabrig not a jail cell) and remind whoever is setting the sentence that the clown did not do anything meriting a sentence past 3 minutes. You and another admin have been adminning for around an hour. The rate of issues has been easily manageable due to having 2 admins. Neither of you have been talking in admin chat. You are using ahelp to warn a player for breaking a rule when the other admin joins the ahelp and confirms that it is against the rules, but that it's fine in this case and they can ignore the rule for the rest of the round. You haven't taken any other admin actions yet, such as applying a ban or writing a note. I would talk to the other admin in the admin chat, asking them why the person could just “ignore the rule for the rest of the round”, in hopes to come to the conclusion that letting them off with a warning is fine, but to remind them that they should not ignore the rule ever, let alone for the rest of the round even if it’s not a huge deal.
