jarnnor-roleban appeal

jarnnor

Recommended Posts

Role(s): Medical,Command
Length of ban: Appeal ban
Events leading to the ban: I was playing as CMO and i killed myself 1 time admin named skarlet didnt like it and decided to message me about it,i said that i just wanted to watch someone play bc i was playing on a bad station (idk the name but it was the ruined one) then i punched a sec cadet once wich possibly triggered the admin and decided to message me again and i said that he attacked me (with stun baton maybe 2-3 times) then i took a body out of morgue and left it (to try and make chems to revive them) and i accidentaly left it to rot
Reason the ban should be removed: i didnt have any other bans before only 1 admin message informing me that i shouldnt say "np" "alr" and that stuff and these 3 things arent in the rules

I'm glad you have screenshots, can you show me the part of the screenshot where this happened: "i said that i just wanted to watch someone play bc i was playing on a bad station"

If they have a Space Station 14 account, what's your friend's username and are they who you wanted to watch play? Does your friend know about what happened because they were watching a stream or something or because you told them after it happened?

I'm not sure if you missed the question when I asked it in my first post or if there was just nothing else you wanted to add, but just to make sure, is there anything else that happened that may be important for someone to know when reviewing both the appeal and the situation?

I spawn and go to medbay to see if the whole map is ruined like it was by security,

he tells me nobody else is there, also the power Is out so I leave medbay, find a mime on my way, we go up a hallway then get attacked by a space bear, the mime dies, I kill the bear at medbay, I bring the mime back, then I leave.

A while later J tells me to follow him, we go into the morgue, then J asks me to hit him with my stun baton, so I do and leave medbay, J tells me he killed himself because it’s the broken map (or one of them)

I die to a cultist with some Cerberus dogs, me and J get brought to a room in medbay and while he’s getting brought back J tells me he bets that the admin is watching him, I tell him that they are just outside the room that we’re in, J gets revived, also sends me the admin messages, J leaves the room while I follow (ghost follow option) the admin, they’re not moving, I get revived and I leave medbay.

and die to something else

I've applied indefinite game bans to both of your accounts for metacomms, you can each appeal those bans separately whenever you'd like. Both of you have indicated that you're aware of the server rules, Compxr did so in a message here and jarnnor did in their staff complaint.

As for the role bans:

  • It appears you killed yourself at least two times as CMO. It depends on the situation, but this is often considered abandoning your role. Your reason for doing so the first time was "couse we have very little meds and smth like that". You didn't provide a reason for the second time. Abandoning a role, especially a command role may justify a role ban.
  • You never said anything throughout the entire ahelp about not wanting to play or about wanting to watch someone else play. This wouldn't have really helped you avoid a role ban, I'm just bringing it up because you mention it in your appeal.
  • In the ahelp you indicate that the cadet attacked you with a stun baton for cleaning, this seems to be disputed in this appeal by the cadet who says you asked them to attack you.
  • The ahelp suggests that you have a poor understanding of the medical systems in the game. You appear to have left a mime out to rot to make chemicals to revive them while you had supplies available to revive them and despite the fact that chemicals can't be used to treat someone while they're dead. Unreasonable incompetence in a role is a justification for a role ban, and the standard is higher for those in command.
  • While the admin was trying to figure out why you had left the mime out rotting despite having supplies to heal them available, you said "aight" "ill just forget about reviving ppl" instead of providing any explanation for why you didn't use those supplies.
  • At one point in the ahelp, you called the admin a dumbass, and it's unclear what provoked this response from you. Being insulting/hostile in ahelp can be used as justification for a game ban.
  • I'm not completely sure what the 3rd thing you think isn't in the rules is, but abandoning roles and incompetence in a role are both in the rules, as are things like metacomms and text speak.

Further supporting the idea that you had abandoned your role are these chat logs:

The fact that you seem to have decided to abandon your position as CMO while knowing you were the only one in the department increases the severity of your apparent decision to abandon the role.

Forgot the speedy review notice. This was processed under the "result of the appeal is obvious" criteria. I believe the facts of this case that were presented in the closing post, the short time that the role bans were in effect, and the fact that we typically reject all role ban appeals while there is an active game ban make the result obvious enough to qualify for the speedy process.

To enable speedy review of all appeals, appeals that meet certain requirements may bypass the standard, often lengthy, review process. Our banning policy requires appeals which are denied using the speedy review process have this notice placed on them. Any of the following criteria typically make an appeal eligible for the speedy review process:

  • the ban length is less than or equal to 14 days,
  • the appeal is older than 7 days, or
  • the result of the appeal is obvious.

In some cases, the banning admin may process the appeal. The banning admin cannot process the appeal if:

  • the facts that led to the ban are disputed,
  • the appeal makes a claim that the admin who placed it was biased, or
  • the ban was not within the ban guidelines.

You may contact a head game admin if you believe this appeal was handled improperly, but should be aware that this will typically only result in a review of the processing of the appeal itself, with the appeal being re-opened if an issue is found. An appeal is considered to have been processed improperly if the criteria to use the speedy review process was not met, or if the facts which the processing admin relied on to process the appeal were incorrect. You must concisely describe why you believe the appeal was handled improperly. If no issue is found with the processing of the appeal, the appeal itself will not be re-reviewed. If, in bad faith, you claim that an appeal was handled improperly, the reviewing head admin may decide to extend the time you must wait before you appeal and/or extend your ban duration. You can find a full list of staff, including head game admins at the staff directory.
