Ryancc
In-game Username: Ryancc Discord username: sir-ryan#3360 Characters you play: Oskar Snyder, an all black Lizard with red eyes. How long have you been playing SS13 or SS14? Probably around 700 hours How many hours are you available per day: pretty irregular, since it's summer vacation right now around 3-4 hours Days you are available on: Saturday, Sunday, Thursday Prior administration experience (SS13 experience recommended). Please also post a way for us to verify this: no experience Have you been banned from our game servers or SS13 servers before? once for cargonia, although we didn't do any damage. This is the more essay-y part of the application, you should answer the following questions in detail, so we can get a better idea of how you'd approach adminning. What role do you think game admins serve on our servers? To improve player experience and make sure a *certain line is not crossed while playing, being whatever the situation desires and be the judge if necessary. How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the server? Good, I generally play on Lizard server and I'd say it's pretty good. Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14? I live in the Indian subcontinent and therefore when I play the game, there's typically no admin online to moderate the game, meaning nothing interesting happens in those rounds, and generally there's like 50-60 players online at that time, so I thought that me becoming an admin would boost player experience immensely. Project Manager Chief_Engineer Posted June 19 Project Manager Share Posted June 19 We've recently updated the admin application. Since you applied before this update took effect, you do not need to redo your entire application, but please post your responses to the following situational questions in a reply here. The following are scenarios, respond with how you would handle each as an administrator. Respond with the assumption that you are an administrator with full access to the admin tools, and that you have all the knowledge needed to use these tools. Respond in detail, explain the reasons behind decisions you make and describe any assumptions you are making. When you need to make an assumption, it is preferred for you to describe how differences in the assumption would affect your actions. It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. A chaplain prays to you "Give me a task my lord". [Answer] You see a clown using crayon to write on the floor in front of security. The clown writings are negative things about security, like "shitsec". A secoff tells the clown that they're being arrested for vandalism, stuns them, and cuffs them. Before the secoff is able to get the clown into the brig, a passenger slips the secoff, causing them to lose their baton, then uses the baton to stun another secoff that comes to help as the clown runs away. The passenger escapes through disposals. [Answer] You log in to handle an ahelp that came in while nobody was online about "self-antag" activity. The player being reported as self-antagging was being a problem and could be considered acting outside of the rules, but they are no longer online and cannot be contacted about their behavior. While outside of the rules, the infractions are, minor and would not normally result in more than a warning in most cases. [Answer]
Ryancc
Scenario 1: It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. A chaplain prays to you "Give me a task my lord". As the admin, I would respond to the chaplain's request by giving them a suitable task. Game Balance: I would make sure that the task I assign doesn't create an unfair advantage or disrupt the game balance. Since it's the beginning of the round and the traitors haven't been selected yet, I would choose a task unrelated to being a traitor. For example, I might ask the chaplain to conduct religious ceremonies, preach their faith or help maintain the chapel area. Player Engagement: I want to keep the chaplain engaged, so I would assign them a task that aligns with their role. This could involve tasks similar to the ones mentioned in point 1. Roleplaying Opportunities: Since the chaplain has a unique role with religious significance, I would consider opportunities for roleplaying. I might ask the chaplain to spread their faith among the crew, help resolve disputes based on their religious beliefs, etc. This would add depth to the gameplay experience and allow the chaplain to contribute to the narrative of the round. Assumption: In this scenario, I assume that the chaplain is willing to receive a task and participate in the game. If the chaplain is unresponsive or uncooperative, I would assess the situation and take further action, such as providing guidance or addressing any issues that may arise. Scenario 2: You see a clown using crayon to write on the floor in front of security. In this situation, as the admin, I would step in to address the issue and maintain order on the server. Verifying the Offenses: First, I would review the situation to confirm that the clown was indeed engaged in vandalism by writing negative things about security. I would check logs, witness statements, or any available evidence to validate the reported behavior. Addressing Vandalism: Vandalism disrupts the gameplay experience and I would inform the secoff that their initial response of arresting the clown for vandalism was appropriate. Dealing with Escalation: The involvement of the passenger, tripping the secoff and using their baton to stun another secoff, escalates the situation. I would investigate the passenger's actions to determine if they were justified or if they were engaging in self antag behavior. Punishment and Resolution: If the passenger's actions were deemed as self-antagging or breaking server rules, I would take appropriate action, such as issuing warnings, temporary/appeal bans, etc. I would also address any damage caused by the vandalism. Assumption: In this scenario, I assume that the actions of the clown, secoffs, and passenger clearly violate server rules and disrupt the gameplay experience. I also assume that the server has established guidelines and policies regarding player behavior and consequences for rule-breaking. Scenario 3: You log in to handle an ahelp that came in while nobody was online about "self-antag" activity. The player being reported as self-antagging was being a problem and could be considered acting outside of the rules, but they are no longer online and cannot be contacted about their behavior. While outside of the rules, the infractions are, minor and would not normally result in more than a warning in most cases. As the admin, my approach to this situation would be as follows: Reviewing the Report: I would carefully read the report and examine any available evidence to understand the nature of the reported self-antag activity. This might involve reviewing chat logs, in-game actions, or any relevant information provided in the report. Assessing Severity: I would consider the severity of the self-antag behavior and if the infractions are minor and would usually warrant a warning, I would proceed accordingly. Report: It's important to make a report on the incident by recording all relevant information, including the player's username, details of the reported behavior, and the decision made. This report serves as a reference for future actions or if similar issues arise again. Follow-up Actions: Since the player is no longer online, direct communication is not possible. I would make a note of the player's behavior and keep an eye on their future interactions. If similar reports or incidents involving the same player occur in the future, I would escalate the consequences accordingly, which may include further warnings, Appeal bans, depending on the severity and repetition of the behavior even perma bans. Assumption: In this scenario, I assume that without the ability to directly contact the player and gather more information, there is a possibility that there might be a misunderstanding or miscommunication regarding their actions.
