  1. In-game Username: Gtheglorious Discord username: Gtheglorious #2087 Characters you play: Rebecca Watson on Lizard, but also play as Sits-In-Shalows occasionally in Mining or other servers. How long have you been playing SS13 or SS14? I've put in around 500 hours since august 2022 How many hours are you available per day: All EST afternoons and more Days you are available on: Every day at this point Prior administration experience (SS13 experience recommended). Please also post a way for us to verify this: No admin experience in ss13 or ss14, but I am an admin in the Swords Comic discord server (~3,000 people) for around three years. Have you been banned from our game servers or SS13 servers before? No This is the more essay-y part of the application, you should answer the following questions in detail, so we can get a better idea of how you'd approach adminning. What role do you think game admins serve on our servers? The role that admins serve in SS14 is to ensure people have fun. They do this specifically by mitigating players who are preventing the positive experience of the game, dealing with rule breakers, and keeping positive experiences going through a shift, sometimes with small or large events. The role of a game admin is very similar to a competent dungeon master who doesn’t force the station down a set path, allows people to form their own stories and characters, can help resolve issues and conflicts between players, and knows and is confident enough to say no when someone breaks the rules or acts out. A good admin should also know how to piece the bigger picture by being aware of the station events, asking questions, and checking logs when a situation seems too complicated or interwoven. Another thing a admin should do is help guide new players in the right direction so they can have fun and bring in more valuable members to the SS14 community. How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the server? With the increasing popularity and inevitable curse break, I see more and more people join the game and not understand how to actually play . As an example, I put my entire detective game on hold to teach a new janitor that roleplaying as a serial killer was not ok (for context, I just brought him back from crit after he got beat up for killing Paperwork) and then proceeded for the duration of his sentence to give him tips and advice on how to have fun as his job without needing to be an antagonist or getting into the way of other peoples fun. Unfortunately we got spaced and died immediately after he was released. A relatively recent problem is the map Barratry which breeds NRP, it’s a great map with really good roleplaying opportunities, but in the LRP setting of Lizard, it has the opposite effect, like the theory that a street with broken windows encourages crime, and you can really feel it on the map, same thing happens when a power outage event, or AME explosion occurs, if it goes on too long, the station becomes unrecoverable due to the ensuing crime spree. Another problem is the entire security roleplay state, where most don’t really even try excluding detectives, which leads into security getting departmental access without asking the respective head, which causes problems because “if security does not have the respect to ask permission, why should I respect security”. This problem also happens on a higher level with the head of security rarely asking the heads or even cap for departmental access because they already know the Hop will give them complete all access! I have witnessed a couple HOSes express difficulty in trying to not get all access when all they want is the basic access that the Hop has the right to give (chef, chapel, bar, theater). Continuing and finishing the sec roleplay situation is the inability to ask or try to read a situation before assuming criminal activities and attempting to arrest everyone involved, the biggest example being the nuke keg. I feel like the roleplay situation could be improved by a system in other games where you can commend other players for good roleplay at the end of the game. Though this could be abused. Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14? I’ve felt like I found a game I truly care for that I just can’t put down, and the only other game I’ve felt that connected to was Minecraft. SS14 has quickly become one of my top most played games of all time and I don’t want this game to fail or fall to people who disregard the rules or get away with bullying or come in to ruin other peoples fun for their own amusement. Reading experiences in #stories about people never wanting to play roles or on the server again because of self antagonists is heartbreaking, and the knowledge that it could’ve been stopped if an admin was online is painful. If people’s first experience doesn’t want to make them return because of a lack of moderation, it feels like a failure, and having more people around to respond to ahelps, or just being online to moderate in general can only help. I want to be a part of helping people and the community to keep having positive experiences of Space station 14.
  2. In-game Username: BurninDreamer Discord username: ninruB#7795, SS14 server-specific name varying Characters you play: [Character name, played since-until (hours), character type, usage status] Nataly Simmons(?) (0-25(?) hours, first character, deleted afterwards) Axamuk Var-Choi (25-600+ hours, main character, actively played) Charlie Axon (550-600+ hours, alternative character, somewhat actively played) How long have you been playing SS13 or SS14? SS13 - None. SS14 - 600h Steam. Playing nigh-exclusively on Lizden with the exception of occasional Salamander and Outer Rim (AL3149). How many hours are you available per day: Varying, most likely 4-6 with exceptions, I've a job with a really odd and constantly changing schedule. Days you are available on: Any day of the week, might have less days on some. Prior administration experience (SS13 experience recommended). Please also post a way for us to verify this: More or so none, I can faintly remember my experiences and cannot prove any of them. Have you been banned from our game servers or SS13 servers before? No, however I remember 2 distinct situations where I have received a fair warning from a Wizden admin. 1. Ticketed by Kayek, happened like half a year (or several months) ago, on Lizard with 40(?) pop on a derotated map I cannot remember the name of. The entirety of the station decided to group up at sci and ask them to "teach" them, referring to scientists as "teachers", while it was in essence a really weird riot. Sec caught up on that and tried to disperse the crowd, Lizard being Lizard the entire thing resulted in a self-antaggy mess, I took a part in this and (I think?) cuffed and stripped down the HoS and Captain in the midst of the fight with half the station around. Can't remember if I argued in the ahelp but I probably did. 2. Ticketed by Kroma, happened like half a year (or more/less) ago, on Lizard with an unknown pop on some old Bagel version. Station was having a really scuffed plasma flood and I at the time for some reason decided to pull a prank on the first head to enter the bridge by slipping, cuffing, and dressing them in a clown(?) outfit, while this already is an ehh situation I by accident took it further when the HoS, and then the Captain, and then the CE showed up, ending in me panicking and forcing a combat scenario on the bridge for about 7~ minutes, at the end I killed the Captain, realized that it's probably not really good that I'm doing this, conceded, went and attempted to clone the Captain whom by this point was SSD, then arrested by the HoS and thrown in a cell. Later on, apologizing to the Captain on Discord. This is the more essay-y part of the application, you should answer the following questions in detail, so we can get a better idea of how you'd approach adminning. What role do you think game admins serve on our servers? Primarily enforcing the rules, administrating and making sure the round goes smoothly while handling ahelps and looking out for unreported rulebreakers. Secondarily making the round more fun. Whether by answering to interesting prayers/ahelp requests, hosting events or aiding the round in taking a more interesting course as well as teaching interested players about the mechanics of the game. How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the server? It's alright I'd say. I primarily play on Lizden rather than Salamander and see that more people contribute to the more game-y mechanically pleasing side of the game rather than the roleplaying side, I've heard that Salamander has it much better, but I don't play enough of it to say for certain. A lot of people however contribute to roleplay very well, and I think the playerbase even if diluted by the fact that the game's really accessible and quite easy to learn, in comparison to SS13, is capable of interesting roleplay and do it quite well. (Even if there's one good roleplayer for 2+ shitters) Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14? Interest, self-growth and my passion for this game. I've never really been an administrator before, and I think that it's an interesting opportunity to learn and experience a lot of new concepts and mechanisms, to that I'd guess it would help if I had more experience on the topic of adminning and dealing with people. I also see this as a wonderful opportunity to decrease admin-less hours on Lizard and teach new players about the game, as I've heard ahelps are quite often used for help. I personally would like to be a Lizden admin because I deem that it's a more interesting experience, and because (I think?) it's in high demand. To this, I'm a native Russian speaker, thus I can handle all sorts of scenarios involving Russian players and speech occurring on Lizden. Other information: Quite active on Discord with 30k~ total messages on the SS14 Discord. Whitelisted on Antares 30xx unnamed mirrorfork, Salamander, Outer Rim and have been invited to play on some Nyano playtest a while ago. Currently a Junior Contributor with like 7 PRs merged. Please reply on Discord ninrub#7795 on the status/important comments of/about the application.
  3. In-game Username: Whisper Discord username: Whisper#4784 Characters you play: Hayden Holden, Formerly Hadley Holden. I changed my first name because there was another Hadley who often hangs out with another crew member. I didn’t want to confuse them, so I took initiative to allow them to meet easier and enjoy their time on the station. I’ve been considering having multiple characters but I’d rather keep Hayden to form more relationships with the community! How long have you been playing SS13 or SS14? I don't remember exactly when I started SS14, but I picked it up again a few months ago and love it to this day. Clocked nearly 200 hours on steam, mostly all on Wizard's Den Lizard, but I've also played on Salamander and Miros. I'm very proficient in all departments and run Heads/Captain when needed! How many hours are you available per day: 4 hours typically. It depends on the day as I do have a job… on my days off, I can have more than 10 hours. More specifically, I work overnight, so I will always be up 8pm - 12am EST on my days off which would be a nice addition to have on the team, as I do see a decent amount of players at these hours. Besides that, I have a few hours to play before work, and hours in the mornings when I get home. I can adjust my schedule to have more hours in the afternoon rather than morning to cover where needed. Days you are available on: Every day! I don’t tend to have other things going on besides maintenance or family events. If I’m also required or needed to assist in the discord server moderation, I will always have time for that as well! Prior administration experience (SS13 experience recommended). Please also post a way for us to verify this: Unfortunately, I haven’t got any administration experience with SS13, all my experience has come from 14. I also don’t know if it’s relevant, but I’ve used sandbox mode before and I am familiar with it. Have you been banned from our game servers or SS13 servers before? No bans or warnings as far as I’m aware. The only time I got a questioning message from an admin, was when I was first learning medical and the cloner wasn't working. (The admin wasn't able to connect it either and concluded I did all I could.) Anything I would have questions about, I would ahelp before doing so! (This is the more essay-y part of the application) What role do you think game admins serve on our servers? I’ve seen admins perform many tasks, it’s been quite amazing to observe. Just from my knowledge and what I've seen, they obviously enforce the rules for starters, to keep the game in a reasonable state. I also know admins have to go through logs to investigate situations, as well as resolving personal conflicts between players. I’m also very much aware that they are also able to control the flow of the game if needed, in the interest of giving players a better experience. (Much like a dungeon master in DND would!) I’ve also had a handful of times where admins would have to intervene to protect players from the game’s occasional engine bugs if it’s something players can not easily resolve themselves, like the recent bug where grilles would crit people behind glass. How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the server? Honestly? I quite love it! I know not everyone agrees, but to me it’s a perfect mix of serious in-character acting and casual gameplay as far as Lizard goes. It’s very heartwarming to see departments teaching new players while remaining in character! I’ve only had that honor a few times in Security and Science, but it was nice. Salamander is nice too, but I’ve had better experiences in Lizard. Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14? I believe I have learned if not mastered all the departments at this point, and can be an effective source of help for new players for starters! I had considered asking how I might apply a few weeks ago, but the reason I am currently writing this today is because of an experience I had with mushroomLavender, who referred me to the forums. The short story is, we had a round that was in complete chaos. Several self-antags and security shooting them as they tried to breach security (This was a bugged round that became an extended round with no threats). This had all happened in the short time the admin was away, and escalated very quickly! mushroomLavender managed to recover the round by setting revolutionaries within the crew. This inspired me to commit to applying and so I asked them what the process was. I am fully ready to adapt quickly, learn how to manage logs and ahelp reports, and I believe I am capable of handling IC and OOC conflicts! In short, I would love to contribute to the quality and player experience of the game, and connect with the community. Thank you for your consideration!
  4. In-game Username: Munday Discord username: Munday#4812 Characters you play: Clon Clover How long have you been playing SS13 or SS14? I am currently at my 400-hour mark on SS14 the hours on SS13 are around the 1000-hour mark. How many hours are you available per day: I have recently been playing for at least 5 hours and more daily so either around the 5-hour mark or more. Days you are available: On all days of the week I will be available for the most part. Prior administration experience (SS13 experience recommended). Please also post a way for us to verify this: I have moderated an LFG game discord and I have also been a moderator on a project zomboid server and Garry's mod I have no SS13/SS14 moderation experience though at this current time I am only able to provide the evidence for the LFG discord I moderate as the other moderation experience is far in the past. Have you been banned from our game servers or SS13 servers before? No, I have never been banned from an SS13 or SS14 server What role do you think game admins serve on our servers? I believe game admins serve a huge role in helping newer players find their way and helping older and newer players progress in the round smoothly with the issues that arise during the shift. The admins are the face of the SS14 wizdens community therefore you need to uphold an image and representation so that people look to admins in a good light as any bad interactions can cause issues within the community and possibly people disregarding the rules. Admins have to also enforce rules and warn/ban rule breakers to avoid further issues. This can come in the form of Ahelps from community members that you need to respond to or it can be something seen this applies to both in-game and in discord as the rules should be followed in both platforms. How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the server? it is an LRP server so I'm not expecting HUGE amounts of roleplay such as using emotes often or creating a narrative I do think the roleplay can be improved severely as it only so often that u get a really good roleplay interaction with another person or that a scenario gets played out properly without someone beating a clown half to death in front of you without no context I believe being LRP makes people think that they can do NRP actions without consequences and Remillia using the emotes to talk can throw off an entire roleplay scenario I find a lot of joy seeing people roleplay and not just making poison pills and meth just because they think it is funny the last issue I have with the current roleplay status is HoPs handing out AA for little to no reason and the lack of New life rule also affects roleplay severely when someone dies they should not know how they died "Nancy killed me in medical maints they are syndicate!!" just ruins the round more and the roleplay behind it but I'm happy this is enforced whenever possible. Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14? The reason I want to become an administrator for SS14 is that I find a lot of moments where I see potential rule breakers or blatant rule breaking and there are no admins available at the time frame (GMT+8) and that's when I wanted to contribute and help more instead of the round being affected heavily due to another player. I would like to help contribute to the community IC and OOC as much as possible in situations that arise like HoPs handing out AA or greytiders breaking into engineering to get Insulated gloves just in general stopping non-antag players from doing antag activities I want the newer players to see SS14 as an inviting community and to do that I want to be able to help them and teach them what to do and not to do I also want to become an administrator to alleviate some pressure from other staff members and to handle issues when other staff are not present I feel like there are a lot of opportunities that I have come across to push someone in the right direction, especially regarding the NLR I have informed people OOC that they shouldn't remember anything and told them why and they understood and started following NLR I want to be able to handle ahelps whenever people are coming across issues and to cut down on the rule breakers on the server to better the community that I want to be apart of and I wish to improve the general quality of each shift whenever I can like creating scenarios for people to enjoy and to stop the self-antags and metagamers and for there to be better round and player quality.
  5. In-game Username: Beridot Discord username: Beridot (J.I.F#6359) Characters you play: Traitor Jones, Shopkeeper Henderson, The-Dungeon-Master, Upholder-Of-Lawsss How long have you been playing SS13 or SS14?: SS13, 10ish hours. SS14, 389 Hours. Some information to note: I am "Over 18" by about... 7 months. How many hours are you available per day: 2-4 hours. More if I am not doing anything else for most of the day. (Most likely more, As you can see from when I post this. I sleep schedule jumps. (3:30 AM when writing this) Days you are available on: Usually all week & weekend, I will sometimes be gone on mon, tue & wen, due to GED classes (will not be in the future) Prior administration experience (SS13 experience recommended). Please also post a way for us to verify this: I have not really admin'd in any game besides Gmod but I don't count that. Have you been banned from our game servers or SS13 servers before? Yes. I opened up some plasma in a airlock as a drone. I got unbanned after appealing. This is the more essay-y part of the application, you should answer the following questions in detail, so we can get a better idea of how you'd approach adminning. I will in fact use my own ban as a example: (This is how I thought it went down, never bothered to ask.) >Get Ahelp >Drone has "Opened Plasma" >Get told their drone number and I go to find him. >Find him, He is offline >Go to verify that he did open plasma. >??? >Ban. Now this above is what I THOUGHT happened, obviously this is a over-exaggeration. How I would approach this is. I get Ahelp'd while watching some doofus in cargo space themselves for the 10th time today. I read the Ahelp and it reads: "A drone has opened plasma near arrivals." and I am given drone number I go to investigate, Arrivals seems fine and the drone is gone. I got into the logs (I have no clue how the LOG system works in this game) and I find out their name. I look up their name on the discord and I DM them about it, I dont want to make a decision without asking the person being accused. So if their DM's are closed, I will do what I think what's best and maybe consult another admin about it. IF DM's are opened then I will ask them "Why did you open plasma at arrivals" if there answer is reasonable like "I didn't know I could get banned for that" etc. I might warn them about it. If there answer is bullshit/unreasonable like "I did it because I was bored. or because I wanted to see what would happen.*" I would ban them for a day or two. *If I was DM'd or asked about it this would of been my response (Because this what I actually thought at the time). What role do you think game admins serve on our servers? Administration and making fun events for the server. How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the server? LRP is alright, alot of wacky scenarios can happen. MRP could be interesting. Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14? My first server event that I can remember. (Vox Traders), I loved being Vox and I loved the event and how it was done. Server events on lizard den is great and I would love to host one. If I get a answer please DM in discord. J.I.F#6359 I will also check the forums as well.
  6. In-game Username: Crytex9 Discord username: Friendly Guy#4328 Characters you play: Tony Pepperoni (Main), Dave Jarlburg How long have you been playing SS13 or SS14? Unfortunately I could never get onto ss13 due to being in Australia and having the shittest internet compared to most countries. Byond could never run with the ping i was experiencing but i've certainly watched a lot of content on ss13, I have been playing between Unity station and ss14 for about a year now. I moved to ss14 because it was more popular and more stable. How many hours are you available per day: Im a night owl, so i should be awake during US Prime time. Some days ill be available for the night hours. (currently in between houses so i might be abit flakey to begin with, Housing crisis fucking me hard rn) Days you are available on: 7 days a week Prior administration experience (SS13 experience recommended). Please also post a way for us to verify this: OCULUS GAMING DARKRP I used to run a gmod DarkRP server (Oculus Gaming) back in the day but I think my style was too adult for that type of thing. I was running this server for about a year. I was known as Rick on that server. Due to playing as Rick all the time and the name just kinda stuck. Kinda Cringe. I built up relations within the servers staff team and eventually became the manager for this server. Not only managing its staff team but the financial sides to it as well. (DarkRP was a gold mine back in the day) I regularly trained staff on how to deal with situations correctly and in a way that allows everyone to have fun, Hosted weekly staff meetings and team building events. This was a full time gig for me and took up most of my time, looking back on it now it was too much effort to put into a DarkRP server. I certainly went overboard with it and I was working with kids who couldn't understand the concepts and strategies I would put in place. A Lot of them would come to me for personal problems and I became sort of a councilor for an internet based after school hours care (with guns). I eventually left due to not having the time because I started working a Job. I left the server in the care of the owner and a dude named Barry. They eventually shutdown the server when people realized what a cesspool the DarkRP community really is. https://steamcommunity.com/groups/AuOculusGaming Unfortunately i cant really verifiable evidence but i can get affirmation from staff members who were around with me during the time. Same goes with below. OZZYGAMING FIVEM RP I staffed the OzzyGaming FiveM Roleplay server (used to be HeavyRP but it turned into darkRP 2.0 in the end so i decided to leave.)” This was a more serious roleplay server than my previous experience with DarkRP. I Mainly roleplayed on this server as a character named Dave Jarlburg, An old English mobster. I was just a regular staff member on this server. My main duties were general server clean up (Abandoned cars and such) and dealing with tickets through a ticket system. There was no whitelisting on this server so people from all around could just join. Much like your own system we could not deal with our own sits and had to act professionally and politely at all times. I eventually left this server due to the absolute degenerates that came to manage the server. I wasn't happy with leadership or the way they saw themselves over everyone else. When I volunteer my time to staff a server I expect to be treated with respect in such a way that makes it worth it, I simply was being treated like trash. I left and told management to shove it and their shitty server along with it. Have you been banned from our game servers or SS13 servers before? No essay-y part of the application What role do you think game admins serve on our servers? An admin's role on a game like SS14 should be there to maintain the peace and make sure people know what they are doing when it comes to roleplay. I would expect an admin on ss14 to more fit the role of a teacher. Someone to guide the common player in the right direction, but also to maintain the peace and get rid of those who are just out to fuck everyone else off. An admin on a server like this should also be able to read other peoples actions and make correct judgements, which I find is a very rare quality. How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the server? It's a bit touch and go. From recent experience the roleplay is pretty solid but there is a lot of room for improvement. I'm seeing a lot of people are treating it more like AMOOGUS rather than what it actually is. Which is disappointing but I still love it. Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14? In recent experience I have had trouble with certain admins and the way they are operating themselves. I'm hoping that if I were to join the team I could set an example for other admins to learn and follow on how to properly conduct themselves when dealing with situations ingame. I have a lot of Roleplay experience and administration experience to give and share. Im willing to volunteer my time and effort to this project because i want to see it succeed, and a big part of that success will require a properly functioning staff team to set the norm for other servers when SS14 fully releases on steam and the community explodes with their own servers and game modes. The norm for SS14 will be set with Wizards Den as im sure you are aware. It needs to set a good example for others to learn and make their own adaptations so we can have the full Space Station experience on a platform/launcher that actually works properly. Thank you for attending my ted talk.
