  1. Is it an ahelpable offense if someone decides to just out of the blue kill or abuse an animal on the station, Mice being one thing. im talking more along the line of named animals so for lack of a better word pets
  2. As for how allowed it is, I think you found out. Not very considering you got a ban warning. And I would have done the same, Arrivals recently got an update that someone put work into. It now works better then ever and there isn't really an issue with the speed at which people arrive. But also arrivals is supposed to be a safe area for people to join and then transfer from. Having portal access there tells me that its gonna get trashed by some bored shitter and its not exactly a place admins would spend a lot of time monitoring.
  3. In-game Username: KVOSH Discord username: DaveFromSteam#3884 Characters you play: Seamus Halligan How long have you been playing SS13 or SS14? : 350 hours on SS14 How many hours are you available per day: Weekdays 3-6 hours. Weekends 4-9 hours Days you are available on: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays. Saturdays and Sundays. Prior administration experience (SS13 experience recommended). Please also post a way for us to verify this: None. Have you been banned from our game servers or SS13 servers before? : Yes I have received one ban for a couple of hours for spamming connect. and one for multiple reasons. Those being Admin checking, Using Ahelps as a social channel. And being disrespectful to a trial admin. This is the more essay-y part of the application, you should answer the following questions in detail, so we can get a better idea of how you'd approach adminning. What role do you think game admins serve on our servers? : I think Admins have a prime responsibility to ensure that the integrity of the server and its rules are maintained. in my personal experience on the server and the admins already established on it. They handle troublesome players breaking any of the rules outlined within the servers rules. doing so with various means, either handing out a ban for a serious infraction or handing out a verbal warning. they also work to collate information about players in game actions to create a broader picture of what that player is like and how they act towards others. other aspects of administration is voting on the revocation of bans. or mediating with players when it comes to their ban appeals. How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the server? : I think the roleplay of the server is lacking in some regards but I think that's down to people not doing their part to engage with the nature of the server. The most populated server at the moment is the LRP server so a lot of wiggle room is offered to players when it comes to defining their characters and operating within their role. And I think most users manage to stay within these boundaries. But of course there is individuals that are not so well versed in the world of roleplay and will take the term low roleplay to mean no roleplay and those are the only users I believe cause issues when it comes to the roleplay status. Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14? : I've played this game for 350 hours now and have made numerous failed applications. But my motivation has stayed relatively the same. I've been hooked on what SS14 offers and what it has the potential to offer. It is the only player driven social game that has managed to pull me in and keep me engaged for so long. I've since starting playing all those hours ago attempted to make a worthy contribution by doing my best to Ahelp any one who is breaking the rules, sometimes I've got it wrong, and sometimes I've got it right. I would like to take a step further and contribute more of my effort to support this game that I've found much love for.
  4. I was under the impression it was a bit more light hearted, tongue in cheek. from the ban I had concluded I was wrong. but your comment has removed any last shred of doubt, Thankyou
  5. SS14 account username: KVOSH Ban reason: Repeated cases of admin checking & admin shopping, despite being told countless times to stop. Explicitly sought out and admin they thought wouldn't be knowledgeable enough to recognize them (as it was a trial admin), and attempted to manipulate good favour from them by asking for positive notes, which, again, they have been warned about doing on multiple occasions. Head admin decision & admin consensus to ban. Date of ban:13th of January Length of ban: I believe it was originally for 8 hours. but was revised to be until the 29th of January Events leading to the ban: For a while now I have been engaging with some admins in the Ahelps in various way, whether it be saying "how do you do" to just doing general stuff like asking the admins about in game events, querying different questions I may have about the round or the game and even once or twice seeking guidance in what role I should play in, in game admin spawned events when I was playing pivotal roles like Captain. I have been doing this for a long time now, I couldn't say exactly when I started doing so, but to my knowledge it was since before the rule re-write. Which I may be very mistaken in saying so but I don't believe there was an explicit rule about chatting in the Ahelps before the re-write, Please correct me if I am not remembering correctly. Now it appears that since I started the game the concept of using Ahelps for any purpose other then reporting of in game issues has become a contentious issue, hence my current appeal. So first allow me to apologise if I had caused any of the staff the added headaches of having to reply to my inanity, That was not my intention but I understand if that is the effect I had. And please allow me to at least explain my intentions so that if anything it can provide context to my actions. What I intended to do through my engagement through the Ahelps was to engage with the staff of the server and garner a rapport not for any amount of favourable treatment but because as can be seen from my attempts to become an admin and attempts at reaching out in other ways. I was looking to join the community in a more meaningful way other then being just a player. and as with many things in life it doesn't hurt to have friends before you walk into a new environment. So please understand that there was not any malice driving my actions or intended by it. My apologies again though if it was received in that sense. The only issue I have with this ban seeing as its pretty cut and dry that I indeed violated a server rule is the way it has been received. specifically referencing what I assume was the catalyst for this ban, Which was my engagement with the trial admin that preceded this ban. I wish to give a greater context as to what it was that I was doing. when I asked the trial admin if they had the capability to smite I was asking because I intended to ask for a note to be placed against my name. already with the knowledge knowing that there was already a note against my name that mentions to smite me if I ask for a note to be written against my name. The reason I did that is because since the note has been added against my name I like to sometimes play around with the admins and ask that they do so, with the full knowledge that I am due an impending smiting. Had I realised that in fact I was due an impending ban I wouldn't have done so. But in this particular instance the admin I was conversing with was a trial admin so I joked that this time I was in a much better position than if it were any other admin. This in of itself was a joke but apparently hasn't been perceived that way and has instead come across as me trying to game the system and get positive notes written about me unduly. And that's the only thing I take Umbrage with in this ban is the implication that I would be either stupid or naïve enough to believe that a trial admin couldn't enforce the rules or that I would actually achieve my goal of having a positive note added. I did it with the full intention of playing around with this admin as I had others. And I would hope that would be reflected in the note that I requested, which I believe was something along the lines of "is the best captain in the game" Reason the ban should be removed: I don't necessarily argue that the ban need be removed at the end of the day I definitely broke the rule of using Ahelps as a chatroom, heck I wouldn't be surprised if I was the sole reason for that rule being added into the game. I just hoped to provide a greater context as to the reasoning behind my actions and to offer a sincere apology to those who I have annoyed with them. But please let my record speak for itself, I play the game as fair as possible and I don't seek to cause trouble. this is my second game ban I have received in over 300 hours of play and the first one was because I spammed the connect button without realising that was causing issue. in closing I wish to apologise once again, but this time directly to the admin that was involved in this particular instance. Sorry if I gave the impression of trying to take advantage and sorry If it came across as me belittling your role on the server.

Very Brief amount of time on SS13 Now have 190+hours on SS14 How many hours are you available per day: 6-8 Days you are available on: Weekends all day, And weekdays 5pm onwards Prior administration experience (SS13 experience recommended). Please also post a way for us to verify this: I have prior admin experience unfortunately not in SS13 or SS14, It was on a Minecraft server. But I have no way to provide evidence of this. Have you been banned from our game servers or SS13 servers before? No. This is the more essay-y part of the application, you should answer the following questions in detail, so we can get a better idea of how you'd approach adminning. What role do you think game admins serve on our servers? In my personal opinion and experience. The role of admins when it comes to games like SS14 is to ensure that there is enforcement of the server rules. A vast majority of players can and do play without need of intervention but then there are others who struggle to stay within the guidelines, I believe it is the job of the admins to do their best to correct certain minor infractions and assist those people in becoming better members of the community, but also to be sure to not tolerate those who are going to attempt to turn a safe play space into a cesspit. Furthermore I feel admins are equal parts rule enforcers as they are community engagers. They assist players not only by ensuring there is no flagrant rule breaking but also by answering any player queries and pointing them in the right direction of the information that would be most useful to them. How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the server? I think its important to strike a balance between player enjoyment and player freedom. I would never force people to play in a certain way but I would equally expect them to understand that one of the cornerstones of SS14 is the roleplay aspect So I would expect them to remain in character, Not discuss previous rounds during a new one. and to not belittle or berate other players because "they take the game to seriously". My main overarching philosophy is do your best and play your way. But disrespecting and impacting the way others play is not allowed. you can't expect to have the freedom to define your own character and playstyle while invalidating others. Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14? I want to become an admin because I have found a lot of love in this game. I always wanted to give SS13 a try but found beyond and the constraints of ping and whatnot to be major detractors from the experience. So since I discovered SS14 I have been hooked. I find it an invigorating and refreshing experience to play a game with people that has such simplicity but such depth. I also enjoy the ability to take on a character in such compelling way which is usually reserved only for table top games such as D&D. And the reason I am applying to become an admin is because I want to personally invest something into this experience. I lack artistic skills and programming skills But I have had experience administrating in games and real life and believe I have something to bring to the table. I personally believe administrating the game is one of the best ways to ensure that it stays what it is now. a community driven game where people are not discriminated or treated poorly. Everyone in the confines of SS14 can be whomever they choose to be and I would like to help preserve that atmosphere.
  7. I think aristocrat would be a really fun job. Like a passenger. But with a top hat and lots of space bucks. One for roleplay purposes. and would even make a better target for Antags then the captain IMO

In-game Username: KVOSH Discord username: DaveFromSteam Characters you play: Huge Mclarge, Fry Quazar, Spencer B Pennyswaddle, Charlie Richmond, Willy P Steele, Max Brain, Blade, Seamus Halligan, Trip Hazard, Jordan Greeman How long have you been playing SS13 or SS14? 80 hours on SS14 How many hours are you available per day: weekdays about 3-5 and weekends all hours Days you are available on: Weekdays after 5:30 apart from friday and free both saturday and sunday Prior administration experience (SS13 experience recommended). Please also post a way for us to verify this: I have been an admin on a public Minecraft server back in the day although I have no evidence of this other then my word and understanding of the "Admin" experience. Have you been banned from our game servers or SS13 servers before? I was banned for a week from nyanotransen for Metacomms, I was teaching my friends the game and didn't read the rules well. I Dm'd the owner and apologised and offered an explanation. they changed it from a perma to a week. This is the more essay-y part of the application, you should answer the following questions in detail, so we can get a better idea of how you'd approach adminning. What role do you think game admins serve on our servers? I think the role of admins on these servers is multipurpose. the first one is enforcement of the rules when players either lack the understanding or ability of how to enforce them, themselves. But I think to say that rule enforcement is the admins primary purpose would downplaying the quality they bring to the game. I believe the other dimensions to the admin roll are to bring some enjoyment to the players themselves the admins take on the role of CentCom, This mysterious and sometimes mischievous entity that for whatever reason may decide to "spice" things up, which I believe adds this dynamic and enjoyable sense of unpredictable chaos to a station run by already unpredictable characters. How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the server? personally I believe strongly in the idea that Roleplay on the server is heavily dependant on who you are. I believe department heads are to be played in a serious fashion because without the backbone of the crew, utter chaos will ensue. when it comes to general station crew I believe strongly in people adopting a character because its through the roleplay that the Divergent storytelling evolves. which I feel is one of SS14's strongest qualities. So I stick rather closely to the general rule of anything that isn't majorly disruptive or destructive to other people's enjoyment is a welcome addition. Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14? I mainly want to become an administrator because in the time I have been playing SS14 I have found a deep sense of satisfaction in the simplicity of its gameplay loop and the depth of which you can reach with the tools you are provided. I have had very positive interactions with members of the admin team whenever I have contacted them for assistance on any matter. and quite simply I want to be apart of this game to which I intend to spend many more hours playing. I want to become as much a part of this game as I feel it will become of me. So therefore I want to offer my services in whatever way I can. and I have no ability to code But I have some experience in the role of being the guiding hand that keeps the train on its track.
