  1. In-game Username: Wreck Discord username: Wreck (wreck.giga) Characters you play: Pepsi Jackson, Sad Billy, Brandon Bruiser, Jean Luc Lacroix, Natanom Baryshnikov, ... and many other bit characters. On average, how many hours do you expect to admin per week: 3-6 Days you are available to admin on: None! Or every day.... (I will not be available to 'schedule' a time to admin) Are you at least 18 years old? Yes How long have you been playing SS13 or SS14? Since approx January 2022 Do you have prior administration experience (SS13/SS14 experience preferred, please also post a way for us to verify this)? Unfortunately, now there is no way to verify my tenure for this but... Yes, several years adminning a large discord (3-4k users) that no longer exists. Most of my time there served as an event manager. I conducted approximately 120 separate events with their own creative prompts. I can give examples of my creative writings there if needed and am available to discuss my experience in further detail. Have you been banned from our game servers or SS13 servers before? Yes! Newbie mistake when I misunderstood a cap gun shooter for a real gun and killed a player as HOS (before role timers) Answer the following questions in detail, so we can get a better idea of how you'd approach administration. What role do you think game admins serve on our servers? To maintain the integrity of the round's gameplay through enforcing rules and helping to create meaningful RP experiences or enhancing the round's entertainment value. How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the server? The current 'climate' of RP on the general server (Lizard) is fair. I think a lot of people focus on gameplay mechanics and not so much on RP but you can find pockets of RP. There are a lot of different ideas on what good RP even is. I would say for this LRP server, the present state of affairs presents no required attention but leaves plenty to be desired. Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14? The sole reason for my wish to admin is to create fun RP scenarios in the rounds. I want to have more of a 'Game Master' approach to administration. A basic example would be to create a ghost role with some basic instructions of a station visitor who would be a VIP. Centcom would inform the captain and current round syndicates would receive a new objective to assassinate the VIP. A certain station person may receive special information they can use to aid the VIP. I have several ideas that are more complicated than that but there's the general idea. Scenarios may include common tropes from TV, Movies, and soap operas. I would be willing to submit documents for each of my ideas and I think eventually the framework for a standard procedure for these scenarios could eventually be a thing that other admins would use. Call them 'story events'. Once established other people with creative writing ability may be inspired to contribute their own scenarios. My time with community management has given me experience with handling situations from an unbiased perspective and leaving emotions out of it. Unfortunately, I know in full that dealing with putrid individuals wears you down and requires lots of breaks. At this point in my life, I have no real desire to be scouring the rounds waiting for rule breaks and dealing with tickets. I also will not comply with an expectation to fulfill a certain amount of admin time per week. Because of this, the ideal candidate may not be me. However, I am willing to do at least some amount of this type of work. Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact? 1. In-the-moment fixes of 'scuff' so that interesting situations don't die from the impatience of being held up. 2. Aiding station authority, Allowing for problems to be resolved in-game through RP whenever possible. (Centcom coming to discipline a department head is more interesting than someone's boss just disappearing) Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this? It's possible to predict the future and handle problems before they happen. It requires one to be observant, insightful and quick to act. However, I can't give specifics as this is a highly situational concept. A basic example could be interfering with problematic players instead of a bwoink. Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it? I once received praise through a bwoink for being funny. The following are scenarios, respond with how you would handle each as an administrator. Respond with the assumption that you are an administrator with full access to the admin tools, and that you have all the knowledge needed to use these tools. Respond in detail, explain the reasons behind decisions you make and describe any assumptions you are making. When you need to make an assumption, it is preferred for you to describe how differences in the assumption would affect your actions. It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. A chaplain prays to you "Give me a task my lord". While invisible I would hold the plushie, make it go 'weh' several times and then drop it on the altar and then flicker the lights. Allowing the player to interpret god's message for themselves. You see a clown using crayon to write on the floor in front of security. The clown writings are negative things about security, like "shitsec". A secoff tells the clown that they're being arrested for vandalism, stuns them, and cuffs them. Before the secoff is able to get the clown into the brig, a passenger slips the secoff, causing them to lose their baton, then uses the baton to stun another secoff that comes to help as the clown runs away. The passenger escapes through disposals. Nothing. As far as I know this allowed gameplay. If read the player's intention as malicious I would potentially take action and I would check with a senior admin when I was unsure. You log in to handle an ahelp that came in while nobody was online about "self-antag" activity. The player being reported as self-antagging was being a problem and could be considered acting outside of the rules, but they are no longer online and cannot be contacted about their behavior. While outside of the rules, the infractions are minor and would not normally result in more than a warning in most cases. I expect there is already an existing standard of procedure for this situation. I don't know what said SOP is and I would ask a senior admin for help on what to do.
  2. SS14 account: Wreck Character name: MJ Pepsi Jackson When was the ban: Approx 7PM on Saturday March 19 2022 Server you were playing on when banned: Lizard Your side of the story: This appeal is for a week-long role ban removal. The 3 hour ban would most likely be expired by the time of your reading this. The incident in question is was over my shooting two characters in security. My role was HOS, and it was the very start of the round. I had been storing my gun at the time to my backpack. Then all of a sudden I saw the mime shoot a gun at an officer from around the corner. I made a quick decision to go and fire back to stop them from killing anyone. The mime dropped, and dropped the gun. While I was trying to make sense of the situation, the clown picked it up. I instructed them to drop it, and upon giving them a chance to do so, he did not comply. Suspecting that if I don't act now I may not be able to, I shot the clown. My next intention was to take them to med immediately. Next, Stealth messaged me. I have attached a screenshot of our conversation for easy reference. Why you think you should be unbanned: I have 167 hours in this game so far, and I have read the rules many times. I consider myself one of the people who holds themselves to a high standard in this community. I have seen how much of a problem bad players are here. I have mitigated poor sec actions in the past, like long jail times, or abuse. I believe I have never abused power in this game. I have always tried my hardest to be the most fair to everyone. My character, Pepsi Jackson's first bit was to be only positive, because of all the negativity I saw in this community at the time. I also understand that the moderators here have a tough job, and can be restrictive and tough in this situation because of the rampant abuse from players in powerful roles. At the same time I have learned that when killers, poor players and even traitors acting justifiably in their role act destructively, it is necessary respond quickly and decisively. In this situation I did not have time to fiddle with my inventory. Since it was so early in the round I had not even equipped non-lethals to hot keys or pockets. Most importantly I was responding what I believed was lethal force from a player. I have always adhered to the escalation of force rule here in the way that I understand it. I believe Stealth did not fully grasp what happened. It may be easy for them to tell it was a cap gun, but from my perspective it was not obvious. At the end of the day, those players were revived and their opportunity to play was not a prolonged restriction. With respect to the rules, the admins and the players of this game, I believe my actions were arguably justifiable and that I am being unfairly withheld from the HOS role. I want to do right by this community. I believe in it. I have always tried to be a positive force here. My other characters are meant to be funny bits. If I am truly in the wrong here I respect the admins decision. However I think a warning is sufficient and not a role ban. In the future I intend to focus even more on using non-lethal force in a problematic situation. Please grant me the privilege to play Head of Security again. Anything else we should know: This is not very relevant but I have also have spent a lot of hours just learning how to use general MIDI and make my music compatible with this game. I really do have love for this community and I hope the admins will see that.
