Stealth already reviewed their take on the rules for this, but I'm not so classy to cite a specific rule in this case with how aggressive you're being. So here, Rule 0 - if you're going to get SMGs unprompted as a non-antagonist cargo worker then you'll be dealt with. Stealth took responsibility for that ruling affecting the outcome of the round and as far as I can tell, between his spelling it out and your refusal to accept it, means it's pretty much going to stick. You were given multiple chances to provide a barebones reason for why you were opening a secured crate of automatic weaponry and beyond stating, "it was red alert", you've yet to provide one. As such, I am not entertaining the opportunity further. With how flippant you have been between the quoted ahelp and throughout this thread, you will receive neither. Appeal denied, you may appeal again in 6 months (April 26th, 2023) and you may only appeal with a voucher of good behavior from another SS13/SS14 server.

I gave you a ban reason. Don't be a dick in ahelps. Your forum suspension also says "don't be a dick in general". Not that hard. And you are correct, you're now restricted from posting for a week. Coincidentally, that'll be when you get unbanned in the game. Any other complaints, feel free to take it up with mirrorcult.

Here's the ahelp in reference for this ban: Inserting yourself into situations because "someone else told you to" isn't grounds for self-defense, especially from a self-antag perspective. From what I'm gathering, the conflict wouldn't have happened if you all didn't instigate it, ergo self defense argument goes out the window. To that end, you also jump to accusing an admin of "gaslight[ing]" you into saying something you didn't do, when all he's trying to do is figure out what the hell happened. All things considered, you probably would've gotten off with a slap on the wrist and a "don't do this again in the future" if you kept your statement factual instead of getting overly defensive like you did at this point. All the admin was doing was getting information because there were multiple parties involved, and it was towards the end of a round when things usually get hectic to begin with. Lastly, telling an admin to "get over it" because the person on the receiving end was barely inconvenienced? Yeah, the benefit of the doubt goes out the case for you here and this just showcases you have no regard for playing in a game with other players. So you're probably one of the first people who have appealed a ban only to have it extended - your new ban duration is now set to a week. Next time, don't be a dick in ahelps.

I think the main takeaway here is that jokes shouldn't be a main portion of your appeal. I can't speak for every admin but I will say I don't have an issue with you appealing your ban or anything of that nature, and I don't believe you to be inherently a "douchebag" or even all that much of a troll. There's just a time and a place for a sense of humor like that and in most cases, an appeal where you were essentially banned for your sense of humor probably isn't the best place to try and showcase that same sense of humor.

Yoda Laheyhoo - Banned for breaking lights
Retequizzle replied to YodaLaheyhoo's topic in Accepted Appeals
Given how things looked, I cannot say I necessarily blame the banning admin in question for thinking you were up to no good. You made a point to mention that you only went engineering for insuls, and then later in the round you were discovered to be naked and destroying lights. Explanation notwithstanding, it's not an unfair assumption to make that you were more interested in causing trouble than participating in rounds normally. That said, if that were the case you likely wouldn't be here appealing and explaining the situation further. As such, we have decided to accept your appeal under the condition that you still serve some time under a roleban from engineering. This roleban will expire October 28th, 2022. This roleban includes any and all engineering roles (Technical Assistant, Engineer, Atmospheric Technician, and Chief Engineer) and also includes any promotion or transfer into said roles. You will still be able to participate in other roles without additional restriction. If nothing else, this will help you learn other roles on the station and demonstrate that you don't need to have insuls guaranteed to be crafty. -
Appeals do take some time to get to, especially in situations like this where metacommunications are brought up. I've brought it up internally to be discussed to see if we can get to the bottom of this in a reasonable timeframe for you, so I would appreciate patience on your end in the meantime.

Denied. You aren't even writing the appeal on the account you originally got banned on. Please re-submit your appeal on the proper account.

Zophero - Head Role Ban for actions as captain
Retequizzle replied to Zophero's topic in Accepted Appeals
Your appeal is well-written, but I'm going to be completely honest with you - admin consensus on your roleban is split to say the least. One thing I want to drill home to you is that as captain, the entire station's well-being is your utmost responsibility. In terms of station jobs, you are in a position that can literally make or break how a round progresses. You mention that you like to do a few jokes, and that's fine - handing out championship belts for dumb shenanigans is entirely within the scope of LRP and I don't think anyone would ever ding you for that. However, I've noticed on more than several occasions where you've gone out of your way to do something because you personally think it'll be funny, consequences of the situation be damned. I've seen you give out various levels of AA to people who ask, but you at least learned from that after seeing it go badly a few times early on. I want to think that you'll have learned from this as well in terms of how to respond to a nuke op situation, and that fleeing to space should be one of the last options you consider unless the entire station is in disarray and you have no means to defend yourself further. The Good Newsâ„¢ is your appeal is accepted, insofar as your ban having an end date now instead of it being permanent. We still think you have some growth to do as a player, so your captain/HoS/HoP rolebans will be lifted on 10/27/2022 as long as no other issues arise from your other command roles. To THAT end, your rolebans on the following roles will be lifted: - Chief Engineer - Chief Medical Officer - Research Director - Quartermaster You are still restricted from being promoted into any kind of role that would equate you to captain/HoS/HoP as we are hesitant to say that you are completely fit for command again with your history in mind. Consider this a trial period where you can prove to everyone that you can be a responsible department head, and bear in mind that you are on thin ice in terms of command role eligibility. Please take this trial period seriously. -
I know you've been around long enough to know that meth is harmful in larger doses, but I do not think you did this with the intent of killing people or intentionally griefing. It also doesn't look like you tried to dodge the issue considering you're appealing and owning up to the mistake that was made. As such, we've decided to accept this appeal. Please be more mindful of what you try to give to people via pills, and in the case of meth, never exceed more than 20u at any time. Feel free to consult the chemistry wiki if you don't know how much is too much for other medicines/chemicals.
-
Pretty straightforward appeal, you seem to genuinely understand what you did wrong and I don't think we'll have this issue again now that you know how fast/dangerous atmos is. Appeal accepted.
-
It's been over a month since your initial ban with no real issues, and at this point you seem to understand why you were banned. Given the circumstances, we've decided to accept this appeal. Please keep in mind that the metacommunication rule is there to make sure everyone plays fairly. Even if you have good intentions with trying to teach someone how to play, please do not do it again. Teach them how to play using the in-game tools provided, and you'll be fine. Be sure to read the rules when you rejoin, and enjoy your future shifts.

If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, flies like a duck, eats like a duck, lays eggs like a duck... it's a duck, my dude. By that same notion, if you're: - calling it "Cargonia" - others are referring to it as "Cargonia" - you kill someone in the name of "Cargonia" Then sorry, it's "Cargonia". You clearly knew you were toeing the line in this situation by trying to rule-lawyer your way out by saying "we didn't start a revolt" while still referring to it as "Cargonia" in the same conversation where an admin gave you three separate opportunities to back down from the claim. In this situation, you basically fucked around and found out. And based off your previous ban history, with this being your fifth ban in as many months for various levels of self-antag behavior, I don't feel like you've actually learned anything from any of them. So, this one is going to stick with you for a while. Your appeal is denied. You may appeal again in six months, no sooner than April 13th, 2023 with a voucher of good behavior from another SS13/SS14 server.
-
In this case, it is not. You may wait out the remainder of the time.
-
As requested, the conversation between you and the admin: I'll be honest here - Stealth cut you more slack than he should have given the fact that we have been cracking down on people robbing SSD players. Had it been me, you'd have also likely just eaten a 1-2 day account ban alongside of the roleban, and the roleban would have been appeal only and not just a week. Even by your own admission, you aren't really sure what a clown's job is supposed to be and you thought it was a role that was designed for griefing. In fact, at the end of the conversation, you even state that you're fine with a week's roleban from clown. So with that in mind, I'm not sure what you're expecting from this appeal - you were fine with the punishment before, but you're not okay with it now, when you've already served a majority of the ban time?

StabbyMcStabStab - Banned for cherry-picking syndie games
Retequizzle replied to StabbyMcStabStab's topic in Accepted Appeals
To clarify the reason for the ban a bit further, it is my understanding that you were appeal-banned for this as a result of your ban history, with this being your third ban within six weeks. After reviewing your appeal as well as connection log history, your story lines up with what I'm seeing on the back end. I am simply not seeing any malicious or metagaming intent with your connections/disconnections in relation to any antag role being given. As such, your appeal is accepted and your ban will be lifted momentarily. My only recommendation is if you feel tired, try not to ready up for a round that could last up to 90 minutes. Really puts a damper on one's sleep schedule. Otherwise, you're all set. -
bruh56-"Rule Escalation and Leaving before resolution"
Retequizzle replied to bruh56's topic in Closed Appeals
Simply skimming the appeal, saw this, so dropping the full ahelp log for context as the admin who handled this ban never said anything of the sort. They even state as much in the third screenshot of your ahelp log, seen below: In fact, the admin in question was probably the most patient they could have been with you given the circumstances. You spent time during the round talking about wanting to make bombs for "self defense", which is one of the reasons why the RD wanted you removed from the department in the first place and what brought this whole situation on to begin with. You were clearly told what to expect if you continued to escalate the issue on your end and you elected to do so anyway. I completely agree with Streaky's assessment, the captain would have been arguably justified in using the antique laser in your situation, because you opted to use a ranged lethal projectile (flare shells do a significant amount of damage for what they are). So whether they used a disabler or the laser gun at that point is moot. With that in mind, since this is your second ban a month and you have a consistent pattern of skirting rules for the game to your advantage, this will have to be discussed internally with other admins before we come to an official decision regarding your appeal. -
Why would you think it's okay to get promoted to a role that you're banned from picking yourself? Please explain the logic here.
-
After review and discussing it with the administrator who issued your ban, we have opted to lower the ban duration from a permanent ban to one week from the time the ban was issued. Your ban will now expire on October 2nd @ 9:45pm EDT. If you have any questions, you may reach out via forum DMs or Discord DMs, I'll be happy to answer what I can.
-
Consider it done. Feel free to reach out to us if/when you decide you want to give the game another try and best of luck on your future endeavors.
-
The ban itself was because you could not set aside time to discuss what was wrong with what you were doing. Since you seemingly had to go at the time, this was the next best way to talk with you apparently. The appeal-ban is justified on that alone. That said, let's talk. You were explicitly caught working with a security officer who was instructing you on what items to purchase, mid-round, in another language. We have rules for being an English-only server, specifically to PREVENT those situations. That alone would have been enough to reach out to you to tell you to speak in English in-game. Do you not see why coordinating with another player, in another language, presents an issue for admins who have to mediate fairness for all players in a round? HOWEVER, the moment you were ahelped about this, you immediately say you have to go and disconnect. I am willing to chalk certain things up to coincidence - for example, I do not believe you and the other player went into the shift knowing each other or coordinated anything outside of the game. You were both excited to run into someone else who speaks Polish. I get it, it's pretty cool when that happens. I also do not believe that your parents asked you to leave the moment you were ahelped for your behavior, given how immediate your disconnect was.
-
Upon review, it does appear that I got the wrong emergency suited individual in this ban. I apologize for the mix up and will be removing your ban momentarily.
-
In addition to the above, at no point did you bother to send any kind of ahelp indicating that you were stuck, during what even you admitted was a round of minor shenanigans, where you clearly knew admins were around to create said shenanigans. So the way I see it, you had two choices here - a) ahelp that you were stuck, get let out, be able to actually participate in shenanigans, or b) take matters into your own hands, blow up a major power distribution source because you said "fuck it", then left after which forced our hand into banning you to begin with. You clearly chose option b. The only reason you weren't permanently banned is primarily because we were admeming the round you did this. With all this out of the way: If blowing up the SMES and then leaving was calculated, then this appeal is denied with that in mind because the ban reason is also calculated. You can come back in approximately two days and 6 hours if you wish.
-
Full ban reason reads as follows: As I was the banning administrator in this situation I'll defer to the others on what to do.
