  1. Oh, the guidebook! Press numpad 0 or use the Esc menu to access it. It's been getting more complete, and it should give you, at least, a good idea of what most jobs (every job?) play like.
  2. Oh yeah! There are even senior engineers/officers/scientists/doctors. Those are teaching roles, and if you see someone with that role, you can count on them for teaching. Outside senior roles, other players can teach as well. Some enjoy teaching, some don't, some will just be distracted or busy.
  3. I second that Liltenhead's videos are probably your best bet. The game changes a lot though. If you're not in the mood for running a local server, I notice that right now there are 11 empty servers, all English, all vanilla or close to vanilla (and probably up to date). You can join one of those and use the sandbox mode to try things out. It is unlikely that someone will join only to spawn a singulo on your head.

  5. And how does Salamander compare? Is it more Apoapsis-like, or more Lizard-like, in terms of antagonists and round length? I've only ever played there at ultra low pop.
  6. Shifts take too long on Delta-V. That's my complaint. A matter of taste, of course.
  7. Can you run very low pop replays? I used to be able to run low pop, but not high pop. It wouldn't crash, though, it'd just stall. 2 heavy 4 my potato.
  8. Hey Fomka. 1- The easiest option is to play on a different server. Care to tell what server you were playing on? 2- If you really like the server you were playing on, you could try asking your ISP what's going on. It might be an annoying route, but the one most likely to solve the issue. 3- Like Vasilis said, you could use a VPN. I'm no expert on the subject, but I'd study the possibilities well before getting into it. Even then, it might not solve your problems. Some VPNs have been used to try to bypass bans, and so servers have blocked entire IP ranges coming from VPNs. I've also seen situations where that happened, but admins were willing to make an exception to allow some affected players to get through the block. Now unrelated to your issue: You posted this on the off-topic subforum, which is not bad, but know that this would fit well in the general subforum. And you seem to have posted your paragraphs in some sort of pre-formatted blocks. I don't know how you did that, but it makes it a bit difficult to read what you wrote. It could be a side-effect of copying from your translation tool. You could probably side-step that by pasting the text into a simple text editor (think Notepad, not Word), and then copying from that editor onto here. Or, maybe using a browser extention like Copy Plain Text, on Firefox.
  9. Admins don't see everything that happens. Like someone else said before, some folks will feel comfortable breaking the rules in a different language, knowing they're less likely to get caught. The easier to memorize, the better. Though, thinking more about it, it's not entirely a question of complexity. Having to check with sources outside the game is less than ideal. Having those sources in game, with a search funcion, like we have for bar and chemistry recipes, would make the complexity easier to deal with.

  11. One easy lazy way of doing this is simply having traditional game mode rules, as we do right now, with an addendum: "Some of these rules may not apply in sandbox or deathmatch mode. Use common sense." I mean, what other rules do sandbox and deathmatch need? A lot of people who play sec on LRP yearn for Space Law, so that'll be a good thing for them, I suppose. I enjoy playing security, but it's never my first choice. And I don't play sec at all on MRP because I don't wanna bother with procedures and reference tables. So if the new LRP space law is simple, it'll be beneficial. If it's not that simple, then it's a mixed bag. People who play sec will love it, but others might be less likely to take sec as a second choice. How would the game even detect that someone is using a different language? Without going back to re-read the rules (but having read them many times in the past), I have some times felt they seem patchy, like a Wikipedia page. After a certain point, it might be easier/more effective to rewrite the whole thing (while keeping the same ideas), than to keep cutting and grafting. But that's just a thought. The person that's doing the job will decide what's best.

    Can't join Lemmy

    I tried joining the Lemmy. Some hours later I noticed a verification e-mail. I follow the link, that leads me to a login page, but the login simply doesn't work. I put in username and password, enter. Nothing happens. I tried asking for an account again, but it says that e-mail is already registered.

As far as I know, there is only the Space Station Multiverse hub. https://spacestationmultiverse.com/hub-info/ As of right now, all servers that are on that hub are also on the Wizard's Den hub, so there is not much of a point in adding it. Servers that are on both hubs will show up as duplicates. The famously dehubbed Nyanotrasen is notably not there, despite still existing and being advertised on the SSMV website. SSMV also has a launcher that lets you join servers as a guest, without an account, but only for servers that allow it, like Blep. They have a Wizard's Den mirror list? I don't know what that does. It might mean you can see (but not join) servers on the Wizard's Den hub if WD authentication is down. Hopefully it's something more meaningful than that, someone please correct me.
  15. This is why I'm never initial infected. I'm not a huge roleplayer, but even for me, this breaks roleplay, it's too weird.
  16. If you're still reading this. I always set lightning and parrallax quality to low, but recently I've been using the "low resolution viewport" option, and I'm almost positive it has made a difference. It seems to heat my CPU less, and lockups have become much rarer. (It's hard to be scientific about it, but it's pretty fucking hot again, and I only got one CPU lockup, when I left the door closed, no airflow)
  17. Yeah, I enjoy playing blind a lot, even though it can get very tiresome. To be fair, I liked it better when I was playing on Park Station. They separate the ultra-limited reach from the black and white, and I used to play with the first one only, much more enjoyable. If you think being blind is too much, you can be short-sighted on Park. You see almost perfectly, as long as you're wearing your glasses. But then if you slip and fall, your glasses might fall off, and your sight is reduced (though not as bad as being blind). Gotta pay them a visit one of these days...
  18. At some point the limit was 1000, then got increased to 3000, then again to 12000. Looks like it's a lot less restrictive than I thought it would be. The books we have were written under 3000 characters, and that seems... cramped.

  21. I remember seeing it mentioned somewhere, but now I can't find it. But like, have you read them? Some are truly terrible. Pranks on Zorgs doesn't feature any Zorgs. Rewriting them actually sounds like a great idea. The instructional books are written by people, though (and most of them just link to the guidebook).

  23. Are you thinking of ingame books? Cause anything is better than that AI crap we have now. Except the Cafe Opossum. I like the Cafe Opossum. Except that it can't get too self-referential. You can't read books about spessman game while inside spessman game. Characters have to pretend that getting boarded by nukies isn't normal, you know. Now if you mean publishing outside the game, yeah, why not? I'd read it.

I can't be bothered to do it, but if you can try running and modifying a local server, there's these two files in the source code: Resources/Prototypes/Entities/Mobs/Species/moth.yml Resources/Prototypes/Entities/Mobs/Player/familiars.yml There's this part in the first file: " - type: MovementSpeedModifier weightlessAcceleration: 1.5 # Move around more easily in space. weightlessFriction: 1 weightlessModifier: 1" I think that, if you copy that part into the second file, and it'll give Remilia moth-like-no-grav flying powers. If it works, all you have to do is a pull request.
