  1. In-game Username: [BRINGit34] Discord username: [BRINGit34] Characters you play: [Almost Exclusively Alvin Hardy, sometimes other characters like Lizbeth Muggins] On average, how many hours do you expect to admin per week: [3-9] Days you are available to admin on: [Most days after 5:00pm central but on Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday I can be on most of the day] How old are you? [20] Do you have any SS14 experience outside of Wizard's Den servers, or any SS13 experience? [I have a lot of playtime on goon, some on tg. I used to play nyanotrasen quite a bit. Mainly just play on salamander now and a bit on frontier.] Do you have prior administration experience (SS13/SS14 experience preferred, please also post a way for us to verify this)? [None on SS13 or SS14] Have you ever been banned from any SS14 or SS13 servers? [A few times. Never on 14 always on 13. I was banned from goon for three months for self-antagging (I think it was three months, it was a few years ago so I can't really remember), but that was because I didn't read the rules and was being dumb. I have never really had any issues on any 14 server and am proudly ban and warning free.] Admins have the ability to perform various tasks which are not available to the average player. An incomplete list of these tasks is: in-game rule enforcement, in-game events, ban appeals, and out-of-game rule enforcement through things like replay/log reviews in response to player reports. With these, and any other tasks you're aware of in mind, answer the following two questions. What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin? [I am mainly interested in ensuring players are able to have a good time, by answering A-helps, and dealing with players that are causing issues such as self-antagging and the such. I am excited about being able to encourage roleplay through events even though I understand those are rare. I just hope I will be able to make SS14 a more enjoyable and fun experience for others much like admins have done for me.] What are you least interested in doing as an admin? [Banning people seems to be the most difficult part of being an Admin but I think I'll be able to do it.] Answer the following questions in detail, so we can get a better idea of how you'd approach adminning. What role do you think game admins serve on our servers? [To me Admins ensure rules are being followed, provide technical assistance, and help during rounds. As well as providing a fun environment with events and things like that.] Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14? [I have seen an increase of problematic players and would like to assist in shifting the culture of SS14 to be more focused on community and rule-following. I also enjoy watching rounds and being able to assist the shift while just spectating would be nice.] How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the servers? [It's gone down and I blame it mainly on the increase in player count. Sec as an example, which is a job I know a lot about, has had a significant increase in players who plainly refuse to follow space law or to even bother learning it. Command has a serious issue with players taking advantage of the power they are given. And a lot of moments that could turn to roleplay are often just turned into excuses for a fight or devolve into nothing. But that is on MRP. On LRP I feel as if its trending towards NRP, I feel like for both servers it is an issue of community and player count, the game has gotten popular enough that you can expect one problematic player every two shifts, and often more than that. I don't play on LRP much because of this but I would likely admin on it quite a bit as it seems to need the most love.] Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact? [Intervention and assistance. Being able to identify and intervene with ongoing issues in the shift before an A-help is given can seriously improve the shift. Something like a passenger bringing welding tanks to outside of security with a welder in hand, its better for the admin to catch that before it blows up. Assistance on the other hand is just as important, new players asking for help and receiving good advice = a player who is happy and willing to play again. Me personally after not playing for an extended amount of time was an antag and used a bomb penguin without understanding how it works and I was worried I had broken a rule by just dropping it and letting it harm a random person. I immediately A-helped myself and an admin assured me nothing had gone wrong and they in fact found it funny.] Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this? [I have as a lawyer seen multiple instances of warden giving incorrect times for prisoners. Another issue I've experience first hand are players just being strange to me, such as ERP and things like that. I feel like its probably not the best idea for an admin to just float around sec waiting for sentencing to make sure it is correct but if I have received an A-help of incorrect times or mistreatment I would more likely watch the next sentencing and how it unfolded. And for players who are experiencing ERP, or use of slurs I would most likely be very observant of the chat and look for conversations that making players uncomfortable or breaking rules.] Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it? [I mentioned it earlier but being reassured that nothing was wrong by an admin after my hiccup with a penguin bomb was very reassuring and helped me enjoy my time much more as an antag.] The following are scenarios, respond with how you would handle each as an administrator. Respond with the assumption that you are an administrator with full access to the admin tools, and that you have all the knowledge needed to use these tools. Scenarios intentionally leave out information so that you can describe how different details would affect your response. Respond in detail, explain the reasons behind decisions you make and describe any assumptions you are making. When you need to make an assumption, it is preferred for you to describe how different assumptions would affect your actions. It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to "do something funny". [I see no reason to do anything if it's the start of the round, to me events work much better in a round that has gone on for a long period of time and most players are looking for something exciting to happen. ] This scenario takes place on LRP. The Head of Security has decided to coup the Captain. The Head of Personnel agrees with the Head of Security and has taken up arms in case it is necessary to aid in effecting the arrest of the Captain. The Captain is hiding with the Quartermaster in the cargo shuttle to avoid the Clown who has stolen the captains saber as a non-antag. There are five people named in this scenario. Please describe what actions, if any, you would take in relation to each, and why. [There seems to be a lot of missing info here so I'm going to assume I have joined this shift late as an admin and this is whats happening. If the coup had not already begun I would make sure to message both the HOS and HOP in order to understand why exactly they are wanting to coup the captain, since I believe this would break rule 9. I would then message the captain and try to figure out what was going on, with information from both sides. If the captain was in the wrong I would most likely warn them and tell them to cease whatever they were doing in order to not have a revolution on hand. If the HOS was in the wrong and captain was in the right I would warn them and HOP the same way. If they were both in the wrong then some more on hand intervention may be required, such as warning them both to stop and if anything else continued after the warnings a role ban may be in order for both of them. QM and Clown both seem to be secondary issues that are kinda related to this. QM seems to just be driving the captain around to protect them and probably does not need to be questioned unless they do something to the contrary. The clown on the other hand needs to be questioned about why and how they have it, I would then warn them to return it or face a ban for self-antagging. To me this issues should be handled carefully and slowly, a revolution of a bunch of non-antags is the last thing I want and will try to avoid that the best I can. Discussions should be held between command first to discuss what to do, command should not jump to a coup immediately, only after a long bout of discussion and events could they engage in a coup WITH admin permission.] You are ahelping a player about an issue. The player has no prior noted issues. A few days earlier, an admin had told you that this type of situation should result in a temporary ban for a first offense, and you are confident that this situation is not substantially different from the type that admin was describing. During the ahelp, another admin pings you on Discord with a link to the ongoing ahelp and tells you to just indefinitely ban them and make them appeal. Excluding trialmins and headmins, all admins are equally "ranked". A headmin is not currently available. [I would likely apply the temporary ban as I have differing information between admins and a temporary ban would be less disruptive to the player while also allowing for escalation if it is deemed necessary after discussion]
  2. SS14 account username: BRINGit34 Ban reason: Datacenter Date of ban: I am not sure how to check the date of the ban but I saw the ban on 3/25/23 Length of ban: I did not see anything mentioning the length of the ban so I am guessing perm. Events leading to the ban: I can't remember. I played on the server a little while ago to check out the new arrivals shuttle and then I had to ssd. I don't even understand what datacenter ban means. I had to look on the discord to find anything about it. I do use a vpn. Is that not allowed? I use a vpn on my computer at all times because my internet has dns issues and a vpn helps. Reason the ban should be removed: I don't feel like I did anything wrong and if I did I will stop doing whatever I did wrong
