  1. That's all. Thank you to the volunteers, contributors, admins, and the players in the community for an engaging time. Just wanted to shoutout devs because this shit fucking rocks.

  3. abolish rule clarifications as they are. if neither admins or players are expected to know about or read them what purpose do they serve besides someone digging them up to say "erm akshually". current rule clarifications need to be collapsed in as footnotes into the rules when they are significant, not shuffled into a forum where they're easily forgotten and impossible to navigate. rule clarifications sit idle because no admins want to formulate response to them because they have to go through a voting process and the issues they bring up are typically edge-case-grey-area of little consequence. if something is a significant "clarification" it probably needs to be mentioned somewhere in the actual rules, otherwise it is of sufficiently little importance that apparently nobody needs to read it unless you're hunting for an excuse that your ban wasn't valid the rules pages themselves need organization more than anything, not really a comprehensive re-writing. the current problem is readability, not scope except for cases involving metagaming new game modes (which even then should have mechanical shields in place where possible). I don't blame current players on LRP for hearing flashes in maint and getting the idea that revolutionaries are running around, there's literally no other way to tell until half the heads die to what looks like a mob of tiders rules and expectations for things like security/command/silicons can use their own tabs in the rules page. Admins in general should be able to apply discretion to large majority of rules in the determination of how much the behavior is disrupting the game for other players (ex: players who don't do anything productive but run around and pick fights/steal from people/be annoying/be the center of attention should have more leeway to be dealt with administratively, even on LRP, or even more leeway to be dealt with IC). That's not to say admins need to intervene in every theft case, but players who are obviously escalating at every turn or merely trying to be a persistent annoyance for no reason should be deal with administratively. similarly this should apply to people willfully antagonizing security for no reason and screaming shitsec when they get arrested, they aren't adding anything to the game.

  4. Hi, qwerty here, you might know me as the one who wrote various songs such as Countdown and Starlight which are used in Space Station 14. Well the truth is, I wrote these songs nearly 3 years ago when I was in the beginning phases of teaching myself how to write music. Songs I did for SS13 that have been ported to SS14 are effectively my first actual songs I ever actually released, and it follows that they were some of my first experimentations with music. I'm not actually very proud of them, but I very much so appreciate the loving responses I've gotten from multiple communities regarding them. I would like to announce that I am not the same fool I once was. I am better, I am faster, I am smarter, I am stronger, and I'm back writing music for SS14. I have learned immense amounts of knowledge about music production over the last 3 years and I finally feel confident to write new music for SS14 again that I feel will match up to my personal expectations of myself. As all of my music is, all of my new releases will be licensed under a Creative Commons attribution license, free to use for all. So now I would like to ask the community: What music should I make? I need the ideas: what vibes are missing from the game? What could really use an epic song? What music needs a replacement? I'm all ears.

  6. Frontier Station owner here. MechaGigaChad has, over the last 2 months, proven not only to be an exemplary player, but also an immensely valuable asset to our admin team. The quality of RP he encourages, enforces, and personally brings to Frontier is a shining example we point to for our players. The incident in question resulting in this ban seems to have been a result of poor decision and not knowing the proper procedures of asking administration. Despite this, their behavior on Frontier has been a shining example for others, setting a consistently high bar for RP. Consider this my official voucher of approval of good behavior.

  9. Alright, I'm never getting unbanned so lets go ahead and unpack why I was denied in my appeal. The reasons provided in the discussion for this decision were the following: - Belief you were disingenuous with your knowledge on the term, with the association of using it and the transgender flag cape and the dismissive 'woopsies' at the end of your appeal. [So, the reason I originally got banned was for saying "Trannie" when referring to a person wearing a trans cape. I did not at the time and still do not consider this a slur due to the fact that it is fucking ridiculous for a person to get actually upset over that word. Now the idea behind this was to get their attention in a way that gives them a reason for them to dislike me in order to fight them. This doesn't mean that I admit to it being a slur, I just think that it is mildly annoying in the same way calling someone stupid or an idiot would be. Not only that the woopsies at the end of my appeal was meant to show that I believed this was a very casual thing and obviously the people here take their jobs too seriously to see that.] - Your appeal was copy and pasted and low effort. [I made 2 appeals, One was short and to the point and I couldn't be damned to write the exact same thing but rephrased so I copied the first one. How much do you want me to rephrase the fact that I called a trans person a "slur"] - Your history of other bans and history. [Yeah I have absolutely no fucking clue what this means this is my first ban on this server.] You may appeal your ban, but only at least 6 months after your last ban, and only with a voucher of good behavior from another SS13/SS14 server. [6 months. They want me to wait 6 months before appealing again. Who the fuck is that dedicated to getting back into the game to wait six months and also get a voucher of good behavior. The conundrum I'm running into is that if you find a server that you play on for 6 months... why return to the one that banned you. Maybe revise the way you punish people] A voucher of good behavior should be obtained from a well-known or decently active SS13/SS14 server. If it is a mainstream server, we recommend using that server's admin-help to ask for a voucher from one of the administrators explaining that you are trying to appeal a ban on SS14's Wizard's Den and want to show you have been a problem-free player during your playtime on the server. A voucher should be indicative of at least a few months of play. If the voucher is not from a mainstream server, let us know and we will figure out a way to verify it. Appeal Denied - Voucher must be provided on any future re-appeal. Voucher from myself - fuck you mods

  10. Here's an advanced setup for making frezon. No pipes are stacked in this picture, so it should be clear how it's built. Text next to filters indicates which gas they are set to filter. Tritium is made in the segment with a heater. Filters pointing into their own pipe network function by letting all gas through except that which they are set to filter. Filter in top right corner is used to clear excess gas and let new fuel into the pipe chamber, set rate according to your available oxygen reserves. Nitrogen filter is set to around 15 rate, it removes a portion of nitrogen that's created during frezon creation; from sleep gas decay. To jump-start the contraption, a bit of nitrogen needs to be added to the freezer section.

  12. Hello and thank you for trying to make our servers a marginally better place by becoming an admin. Here are the requirements: You must have at least 100 hrs of playtime on Wizard's Den servers. Playtime over 150 hrs is highly recommended if you do not have significant experience on another ss13 or ss14 server. You must be visible in Discord as well as ingame. You must have good conduct in-game (e.g. no shittery). You must not have been banned or role banned in the last 2 months. You must be over 18 years of age. Expectations of Accepted Applicants Applicants who are accepted will go through a trial period, which typically lasts one to two months. During this period, you must be active enough in adminning that your performance can be evaluated. If your application is accepted, maintaining the activity level that you indicated on your application should be sufficient. The activity level you indicate on your application should be something you expect to be able to maintain long term, even after your trial period, but it should not be seen as the minimum amount of time you are required to be active. It is not unusual for admins to occasionally take week long, or multi-week breaks. It is also not unusual for trial admins to take week long breaks, though doing so will typically delay the end of their trial. Extreme levels of activity will not necessarily improve the chances of passing trial, nor will it necessarily speed up the trial process. Trial admins are discouraged from being more active during their trial period than they can sustain indefinitely, and are cautioned that it is very common for trial admins to believe they can sustain a much higher level of activity than they actually can, leading to burnout and significantly lower activity overall. Please fill out the following template for your application: In-game Username: [Answer] Discord username: [Answer] Characters you play: [Answer] On average, how many hours do you expect to admin per week: [Answer] Days you are available to admin on: [Answer] How old are you? [Answer] Do you have any SS14 experience outside of Wizard's Den servers, or any SS13 experience? [Answer] Do you have prior administration experience (SS13/SS14 experience preferred, please also post a way for us to verify this)? [Answer] Have you ever been banned from any SS14 or SS13 servers? [Answer] Admins have the ability to perform various tasks which are not available to the average player. An incomplete list of these tasks is: in-game rule enforcement, in-game events, ban appeals, and out-of-game rule enforcement through things like replay/log reviews in response to player reports. With these, and any other tasks you're aware of in mind, answer the following two questions. What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin? [Answer] What are you least interested in doing as an admin? [Answer] Answer the following questions in detail, so we can get a better idea of how you'd approach adminning. What role do you think game admins serve on our servers? [Answer] Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14? [Answer] How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the servers? [Answer] Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact? [Answer] Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this? [Answer] Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it? [Answer] The following are scenarios, respond with how you would handle each as an administrator. Respond with the assumption that you are an administrator with full access to the admin tools, and that you have all the knowledge needed to use these tools. Scenarios intentionally leave out information so that you can describe how different details would affect your response. Respond in detail, explain the reasons behind decisions you make and describe any assumptions you are making. When you need to make an assumption, it is preferred for you to describe how different assumptions would affect your actions. It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to "do something funny". [Answer] This scenario takes place on LRP. The Head of Security has decided to coup the Captain. The Head of Personnel agrees with the Head of Security and has taken up arms in case it is necessary to aid in effecting the arrest of the Captain. The Captain is hiding with the Quartermaster in the cargo shuttle to avoid the Clown who has stolen the captains saber as a non-antag. There are five people named in this scenario. Please describe what actions, if any, you would take in relation to each, and why. [Answer] You are ahelping a player about an issue. The player has no prior noted issues. A few days earlier, an admin had told you that this type of situation should result in a temporary ban for a first offense, and you are confident that this situation is not substantially different from the type that admin was describing. During the ahelp, another admin pings you on Discord with a link to the ongoing ahelp and tells you to just indefinitely ban them and make them appeal. Excluding trialmins and headmins, all admins are equally "ranked". A headmin is not currently available. [Answer]

  13. We have issued a strike to the server community Goob Station for violation of the following Space Wizards Hub Rules: 1.1. Do not harass, bully, brigade, defame, or doxx players, developers, or communities. Goob Station has two strikes remaining before their servers are removed from the server hub. This strike will expire in one year (Tuesday, April 16, 2025). Details We had received a player report that a cheat developer was on staff at Goob Station. Upon contacting them about this they removed the staff member in question and no further action was going to be taken. They then forwarded this correspondence to a third party server and used it to instigate harassment of the project manager who contacted them. After contacting them about this they agreed to attempt to stop it.

  14. Do we have that big of a shitter issue? Is there a new shitter that plays for the first time every day or something? Why am I not seeing this apparent shittery? In SS13 this isn't an issue. Most roles in SS13 have or can obtain incredibly robust weapons. Botanists for example can very easily mutate death nettles and then maximize their potency to become a 2 hit crit weapon. (And I still die defending myself from antags with these.) They can also easily engineer super kudzu that mutates all over the place, explodes shit, and spawns venus human-trap ghost roles that snatch people and chomp em to death. Guess what, I haven't seen any shittery happen with these on non-antags. I bet if someone wanted to add this to SS14, they'd get slapped in the face and responded to with "But shitters will go around self antagging with this!" and "Normal crew shouldn't have access to overpowered weapons!" as if admins weren't a thing. Another example is Chaplain, who literally has a holy weapon (null rod) that makes them immune to all magic as long is they have it anywhere in their possession, which they can transform into one of many unique forms with different upsides and downsides. They also get a selection of various suits of holy armor that have equal armor stats to full riot gear. And the thing is, this doesn't make a huge difference. The null rod is a good weapon, although it does lower damage compared to other weapons possessed by antags and security, as well as some other jobs later on in the round. I remember asking about when we'd get null rods, and coders were telling me chaplains shouldn't have "overpowered shitter validhunter gear", meanwhile on SS13 I do not see chaplains running around killing antags or being a shitter. If there's a cult, wizard, revenant, or heretic, then the chaplain is more likely to try killing them (since their job is to deal with supernatural threats and they are the best equipped to counter them) even with these counters though, these magic antags still have the upper hand in most situations due to having strength in numbers, better gear, or both. So why are we scared of adding fun to the game?

  15. Ban reason: [Racism, repeated use of the N-Word] Length of ban: [] Events leading to the ban: I was saying the N-word on SS-14, it wasn't to anyone or anyone I can recall. Reason the ban should be removed: [ Dear SS-14, I am writing to appeal my recent account suspension due to my regrettable and unacceptable behavior involving racism. I fully acknowledge and accept responsibility for my actions, and I am deeply remorseful for the harm and offense I have caused. First and foremost, I want to express my sincere apologies to the community, to those directly affected by my words, and to the platform as a whole. My actions were inexcusable and do not reflect my true beliefs or values. I understand that racism has no place in any community, online or offline, and I am committed to educating myself and working towards becoming a better and more respectful individual. I want to assure you that this incident has been a profound wake-up call for me. I have taken the time to reflect on my behavior, to understand the impact of my words, and to educate myself about the harmful effects of racism. I now recognize the importance of fostering an inclusive and respectful environment in online communities, and I am determined to contribute positively to achieving that goal. To demonstrate my commitment to change, I am willing to undergo any necessary training or counseling to address the underlying issues that led to my racist behavior. Additionally, I am more than willing to comply with any conditions or restrictions imposed on my account as part of the reinstatement process. I understand that trust is something that must be earned, and I do not expect my account to be reinstated immediately. However, I humbly request the opportunity to demonstrate through my actions and behavior that I am genuinely remorseful and committed to positive change. Once again, I offer my sincerest apologies for my actions, and I thank you for considering my appeal. I am hopeful for the chance to prove that I can be a responsible and respectful member of the community once more. Thank you for your time and understanding. Sincerely, asfsGsdrfgSDG ]

  17. Hello again. Admin consensus is to deny this appeal and require a voucher for any future appeals. A future appeal must be made at least 6 months from the time your ban was placed(2023-12-01). This is due to many factors, but these are the prominent ones: You have a very large history of previous issues. While we understand that you also have an extremely large amount of playtime which is bound to lead to more incidents we cannot disregard the sheer amount of them and their severity. The hateful statements you made were also a big part of this decision. We understand that those statements were made hastily and/or under poor mental health however we also cannot just ignore them. While you have apologized for all of the above, and have stated that you have improved your state of mind we cannot just take this at face value. This is why we would be much more confident accepting an appeal in the future accompanied by a voucher of good behavior. A voucher of good behavior should be obtained from a well-known or decently active SS13/SS14 server. (edited)

  18. After consulting with a member of the admin team in regards to your non-english section of the appeal, this has been upgraded to a voucher ban. A voucher ban means you cannot make an appeal until 6 months after the posting of your most recent appeal or attempt to ban evade. (At time of writing meaning 6/8/24). In addition, you will need a voucher of good behavior from any other server from space station 14 or space station 13 if you even want your next appeal considered.

  19. We have removed Xeno Station due to violation of the Space Wizards Hub Rules: 1.5. If your server or community as a whole is 18+, you must do due diligence to remove underage players Given the nature of the issue we have decided to immediately go for a 3-strike dehub. Details Previously Ian Station was dehubbed due to containing members under 18 years old on their ERP server. It was brought to our attention that a new server was made out of this community that is also engaging in the same acts. Some of the proof is as follows: - The github linked for their server is the former owner of Ian station's github which is still being developed. https://github.com/Xomashok/space-station-14 - The Xeno Station wiki is still actively being edited by the former owner of Ian Station. https://wiki.centralhive.ru/index.php/Заглавная_страница

I askeda mod to please unban him and instead of saying anything, he just perma banned me!!! I did nothing and have been playing ss13 since 2008... I am trying to get new people into the game and this is absolute fascist way to handle new players...

  22. My suggestion is specifically for MRP and is regarding revolutionaries and mindshields. Note: In my mind all three suggestions rely on each other, I would not recommend implementing any one of them without the other two. 1. The sound of a flash being used, or a civilian caught with a flash in their inventory should not be sufficient evidence to believe revs are on board. This would be a definitive rule so that anyone who hears a flash and starts calling revs can be ahelped and dealt with. 2. Space law should be updated to allow Sec to mindshield anyone who has committed a tier 3 crime or higher. The current rules state: "Shields can be administered to any inmate who has been clearly mind controlled, lost control of themselves, or a suspect charged with unlawful control." The problem is that there is no IC way to tell when someone has been "clearly mind controlled" unless you give them a mindshield, which you're not allowed to do unless you can already tell they're being controlled. This change would give a clear and easy to understand standard to follow, and a natural way for security to discover the presence of brainwashing without magically figuring it out at the sight of a flash. And if security doesn't follow this rule, it can either be dealt with IC by a lawyer for not following space law, or OOC by an admin for not following the server rules. 3. Command, or more specifically the Quartermaster, should be allowed to buy mindshields at their own discretion. Buying anything as a precaution should be a cost-benefit analysis. Are we rich? Maybe let's buy some mindshields. Are we poor? Let's spend our money on the basic necessities. In the same way, the headrevs should be doing the same analysis. Do you play slow and cautious and risk cargo getting rich and buying everything they could ever want? Or do you play fast and aggressive and risk getting caught in the act? This is a much more interesting dynamic then command pretending mindshields don't exist for fear of getting role banned. Ideally these changes would also come with gameplay tweaks such as flashes being locked in the Secfab or being removed from borg recipes altogether so that one rev scientist can't completely eliminate the need for revs to take any risks to get more flashes.

  23. We have removed Ian Station due to violation of the Space Wizards Hub Rules: 1.5. If your server or community as a whole is 18+, you must do due diligence to remove underage players Due to the severity of the issue we have decided to immediately go for a 3-strike dehub. Details Ian Station is an 18+ Russian ERP server that is intermittently hosted. We cannot provide an exact server address as it keeps being hosted from a different IP. We received multiple reports of the server's owner being underage themselves, and neglecting to enforce that people are actually 18. We were able to verify these claims on their official Discord, the owner publicly stating on multiple occasions what their age is (I'm not gonna post any direct messages on this however...). I also found multiple off-handed mentions of "half the server is underage and you know it"-type stuff, though I'm not interested in doing an in-depth analysis to see how much of that claim is simply hyperbole. Furthermore, we found this message from the owner in their announcements channel: Google Translate (emphasis mine): We take all this as clear evidence the server's administration has little interest in properly enforcing basic age requirements, and decided we would rather go with the nuclear option.

  24. That's a very uncharitable reading of the situation. If I had intended it in a sexual context rather than the humorous reference that it is, I would have used the term penis instead of PP. I feel you’re inserting context here that isn't there on this one. I do think the fact i used PP instead of penis makes a difference here. the intention is clear. Simply referencing that people have genitalia with no sexual action mentioned isn't what I would qualify as sexual content. there was no direct reference to any sexual act. This really does feel like you guys are making a mountain out of a molehill. This is a very long running joke that has existed before the internet, and has been a part of internet popular culture for multiple decades about an awkward interaction that someone had at a high school, and the confusion around that no one else had it. I dont think it's unreasonable to assume that the vast majority of ss14 players would know that this isn't a joke about a sexual act, but an awkward medical experience. I'm confused by the spectrum of what's deemed acceptable behaviour here as SS14 is a game where the intention of the player is to murder, gore, literally rip bodies apart, commit acts of terrorism etc. but simply acknowledging the existence of genitalia tangential to a joke is an immediate ban? Not even a warning? This does seem to be squarely within the realm of "exceptions for insults such as dickhead, etc." as that is the use of a word that is “sex-adjecent” without any underlying sexual context. Unless the reader is to assume that they mean the person literally means that we're talking about people running around with penises on their head.

  25. Gunbolts fucking rock and it's a genuine 100% skill issue if you cannot learn how to use them in 5 minutes. You can take our your Cobra, press the bolt and make an audible gun sound without having to arbitrarily cycle a round and say "Any last words?" before killing someone. Genuinely game-changing in terms of antag RP, but this fits in with other shooters where you need to rack a round after fully emptying a clip, this usually extends animations slightly - but that extra second can be the difference between life or death. It's no different here.

  26. Thank you for your complaint. I've concluded investigating it and will be accepting it with the following findings and resulting actions: Repo reported the event as required by admin policy 2.5. The event report was sufficiently accurate, but did not report a brief self insertion during the event. Ideally, the self insertion would have been included in the event report, but given current policy and the nature of the self insertion, it is reasonable that it was not logged in this instance. There were no Leviathan event reports recent enough to this event that it'd suggest an event should not have been run at the time. A vote for the event ran and passed, however it may not have been clear that the vote was for an event or admin intervention. Repo identified this issue when contacted about the complaint before it was presented as an issue. In addition to it being unclear that the vote was for an event, the complainant was in-game but appears to have been performing a search at the time of the vote, so it is possible that the vote was missed by them entirely. After the event had begun going in a direction other than what was intended, Repo briefly inserted themselves as a centcom official in what appears to have been entirely an attempt to steer the event IC, rather than participate in it. Admin policy allows this sort of self insertion. During the self insertion, Repo remained adminned without an apparent need to use admin tools for the event. It is reasonable that Repo may have forgotten to deadmin during the insertion, and there is no apparent use of admin tools, other than ahelp, during the insertion. This is technically a violation of admin policy 2.4, though it appears to be minor and does not appear to have contributed significantly to the overall issues experienced by players. During the self insertion, Repo used ahelp to respond to an ahelp made by the complainant which involved them. There is no evidence that this was done maliciously. The response may not have been significant enough to give rise to a violation of admin policy 2.1, and it doesn't appear to have been within the spirit of the sort of admin messaging forbidden by admin policy 2.4, but it could reasonably be seen as inappropriate and may have been a violation of both policies. Repo was reminded of admin policies on self insertions and on admins handling cases they are or were involved in. The event appears one which could have been justifiable under admin policy 2.5, but which went unexpectedly, rather than one which was entirely unacceptable. I was unable to find logs indicating that the complainant was subtle messaged, as indicated by the ahelp, but did find logs that other players had been subtle messaged. Repo identified issues with the incident when contacted about the complaint before those issues were brought up, and was receptive to feedback. In the exchange discussing the complaint, Repo met the requirements of admin policy 1.1. Repo was advised to not run large events alone, particularly so soon after completing their trial period. Repo was also advised that people are unlikely to look favorably on events where others are perceived to be allowed to break rules, especially security, without very good pre-round communication and expectation setting about the event. Unprompted, Repo offered an apology to be relayed in this thread: The following is information related to the investigation of the complaint which is being released: Relevant round: Leviathan 31252 Replay: https://cdn.centcomm.spacestation14.com/replays/leviathan/2023/08/17/leviathan-2023_08_17-12_04-round_31252.zip Ahelps: With a Syndicate Agent: A syndicate agent asks if they can use the lobbying kit on any of the members of command. Repo correctly identifies the question as something which is being discussed internally, then grants permission to the player. The player relays that the HoS has agreed to a security led coup and Repo indicates that they are in contact with the HoS. Repo indicates that they will attempt to convince other security to participate if needed. With the HoS: HoS ahelps to ask for guidance on what to do when a syndicate is attempting to negotiate. The HoS indicates that they'd like to try to lead the negotiator to get more out of them before arresting them, to which Repo responds by encouraging cooperation and saying that they can run a vote if the HoS would like to proceed. The HoS agrees. Repo and the player discuss plans before the player indicates that they've been discovered. Repo indicates that they're attempting to recover the event and then rejects a request for a "round 2" from the player, saying "nah this has gone terrible". With a player using mapped Centcom gear: Though related to the event, this ahelp appears mostly tangential. Repo attempts to identify where the player found the centcom gear, then tries to get the player to help recover the event saying "can you get all the sec back to sec for a meeting, this centcom thing threw a spanner in the works". With the complainant: Complainant indicates that they've been murdered for the second time by the HoS using syndicate gear, and that another player assisted. Repo says that they'll get the complainant back up, instructs them to "help him out", and informs them that they'll make an announcement, saying they thought "the 1984 was clear enough". The complainant expresses their dissatisfaction with the event, to which Repo responds saying that the ran a vote and attempted to subtle message the complainant. **Changeling:** Fox Bridgeton murdered me second time as hos using syndicate gear **Changeling:** Phryganoporus Formosanus assisted him **Repo:** ill get you back up, help him out. ill make a anouncement as i thought the 1984 was clear enough. **Changeling:** I wasnt here and this is blatant self antag by whoever is assisting him **Changeling:** can I just kill everyone or is this what you want, for sec to die? **Changeling:** just so you know I will be making an official complaint on forum on you personally for murdering entire security department with your \"event\" and ruining our round **Changeling:** all for some \"ACAB\" bullshit politics **Repo:** Alright thats fair, i ran the vote earlier, it was a overwhelming majority. i subtle messaged you a couple of times, but clearly you didnt see it or not interested. **Changeling:** I cant see subtle messages when there's constant people talking and people shooting **Repo:** Yeah it was a bit hectic. the round is set to end now anyway.

  27. We're not operating on your own personal interpretation of self-antagonism. The CMO depicted here "ruining your vibe" of running around with guns threatening to kill people is a crew member trying to stop someone obviously dangerous from running around with weapons when they aren't supposed to. I think your posts here clearly illustrate you think you didn't do anything wrong (or didn't do something warranting a ban at least), which isn't the truth. This ban holds, you can wait it out until the 13th.

  28. For all purposes, cargo and salvage can be considered one department and I will be referring to it as cargo in this post. With expeditions and magnet recovery being heavily combat oriented, cargo will end up with large amount of lethal guns and good armor very early into the shift. It's hard to blame cargo players for not wanting to die, it however is in stark contrast to the other combat oriented department - security. While security has to follow escalation/chain of command and can't simply arm up roundstart with best-in-slot items available for combat, there's no such standards for cargo. It's become completely normal and expected for cargo to order SMGs, riot armor and medical/other supplies for their own use, with complete autonomy and no oversight or interaction with any other department. Cargo is now a de-facto a military branch of station that is sent out to kill and loot places, with nobody to answer to, no escalation for gearing up, just pure untethered powergaming as (un)intended by being a combat focused department. I propose two separate solutions: 1. Require specific access to place orders, same access as is required to open crates from said orders. This will prevent cargo from gearing up without department interaction and just busting crates open. 2. Separate and rename salvage into an actual military themed department that cannot roll antag status/has severe TC penalties, as they are already geared and equipped for combat. Hold them to same standard as security.

  29. In a game where all the lethal weapons are locked in one of the most secure areas of the station, and requires not only warden/hos access to enter, but also verbal confirmation to get a gun out of there. I find it out of place that all cargo has to do to get lethals is push a few buttons. Security has to jump through hoops to get lethals. They need to ask for permission, they need their superior to hand it out to them, and they usually need it to be a red alert emergency for this to happen. Compare this to cargo. Anyone on cargo can push a button and get lethals with no oversight. Making a change where cargo has to request permission for other department goods(or at least security) would drive communication between departments, give the QM something to do in command chat, and would give cargo the oversight and regulations that other departments need to follow.

Then There Was A child, their Inteligence was less than mild. By The Time They Were 5 Years Old, They Found Neckbeard Gold. Discord, They Perved On Girls And Made People Hurl With Their Tiny Dick And Somehow Being So Retarded They Were Able To Become A Discord Admin And Maintainer Of A Good Game,But All They Added To The Game Was Unfortunate Pain, One Day A User Called Ragg Said "Hey my ban was 2 days but you made it 3? can you lower it please? I hope The Admins Care about this because its their freaking job." "haha no cunt, get fucked" and so the child went on, to make retarded comments. 32. Role(s): All Command roles Length of ban: 14 days Events leading to the ban: (I was on edibles during the time of the ban) I had rolled captain as my main moth "John Moth" and I will admit I am very much not a serious player ( I like to do gimmicks such as "hosting a boxing tournament for AA" or stuff like that) So I started out doing my usual captain duties, delivering gold to sci, the money to cargo and pinpointer to HoS etc etc... sometime into the shift, someone had said over commons "Captain law 2: Kill everyone" I thought that was funny but obviously im not gonna kill anyone, so I grabbed a pair of boxing gloves and started just randomly boxing people, THIS is by all means shitter behaviour and I get giving a warning for that or even like a 24 hour ban , I had admitted that, yes I was in the wrong I also announced banning gravity (never did anything with the grav gen). Reason the ban should be removed: when I was bwoinked to be told about my ban I had asked how long it would be; 7 days, okay, thats fine, I mean I dont think I did anything obscenely wrong I did make a mildly sexual comment which wasnt cool and obviously I take responsibility for that; BUT upon being told about the 7 days instead of arguing and fighting I simply accepted it, the trialmin then proceeded to note my "unphased" demeanor towards the ban they were giving me, and for that reason alone they doubled the length of the ban, which in my opinion is very much power trippy and overstepping, I didnt throw a tantrum, I didnt whine or swear, I was graceful in accepting my ban, and for that it was doubled!? I believe that it should at least be reduced back to the original length or removed alltogether as what I did wasnt even that serious.

  33. (This will extend to game server and Discord if viable. Otherwise, I can make a separate post for the latter.) Ban reason: Abusiveness toward volunteers. Length of ban: Appeal-only. Events leading to the ban: In Discord I was critical of the lack of admin response to a rule question that at the time was unanswered. Metalgearsloth replied to something I stated to which I responded to with an off topic/unwarranted reply, then leaving the server. I was summarily banned from both the Discord and in-game for my actions. Reason the ban should be removed: To double up on an issue presented in the past by freeman in regards to a previous ban, I can and have taken the game too seriously. All I can state to this point is that my life circumstances have changed drastically and have placed me in a position of exponentially greater mental health and self-identity. I do not think that my criticality of the handling of the question should have been so heavily lauded by Sloth - however, in an effort to empathize I cannot feasibly understand how many people blame admin teams, developers, and the like for the lack of elements, be that ground rulings on specific issues or content or otherwise. I will also state that the admin who compelled the question is no longer on the team. Not with any longstanding feeling of vindication do I think that my question was largely reactionary and ultimately confrontational to an unnecessary extent. If the question is unanswered, so be it, I really should not have so much weight in the hypothetical scenario of a collection of pixels. For this I genuinely apologize. My words were also misunderstood through my own fault - I'd mentioned that I was the longest time player, but I misspoke. (longest time player construing that I'd played for 2k hours, *not* that I've played historically the longest.) I've been outwardly critical of a few admins in the past but never took it to Discord to express discontent in the way I had, and furthermore should never be overly critical of one who spends times deliberately attempting to alleviate issues, even if I disagree with them at the time, as rulings can always change and conversations can always be had to find middle ground. I apologize to Kayek who I yelled at when they called me out, rightfully so, for breaking into the high tech vault on Box when I brought back a multitude of materials for cargo after a conversation over rushing insulated gloves. That was really unfair, you've always been a kind admin, and you're just looking out for other players who don't get a chance for gamer loot because Sosa™ keeps rushing the Gamer Gear™. I can try to rationalize my behavior "that other people won't find it," but that just means I can look for it 10-20 minutes down the road and focus on other things... Like roleplaying, or my job. I apologize to Metalgearsloth for telling them "good luck on your sound issues lmao" before leaving the Discord, as this was during a time when sounds were all around having issues, the game seems to have less project managers/as hardcore contributors due to forks or otherwise burnout and pissing off one of the very few is a dogshit move. I can be an asshole, but for everything I complain about, I've never had so much fun, and I know you're inherently one of the few people to thank. I can and will be more grateful and less inflammatory in future interactions, regardless of the outcome of this ban appeal. I apologize to LordEclipse for insinuating that they were babysitting an unfair rule infraction when they'd just gotten on and were assessing the situation in an objective manner. I realize I can be overly critical and I apologize that it manifested into one of my favorite hobbies because of how obsessively I handled something as simple as a response of volunteer time. I did not mean for this to manifest into vitriolic actions towards the staff who has provided innumerable experiences and want to better my actions/speech wherever viable. If and when I feel a judgement is unfair pales in comparison to how many times people have likely been told that I was within rights to perform actions I'd done in the past via self defense, antag actions, or otherwise. I came from watching Ssseth's SS13 video, cramming out space drug pills as a non-antag mime to trying to make narrative artifact videos. I believe that change in attitude is possible and want to remain open to it, I do not want to be cynical and abusive. I'll cool my jets from here on out, whether or not I'm accepted in either medium. Peace.

  36. In-game Username: CMDR_JohnAlex Discord username: CMDR_JohnAlex (Originally known as CMDR-JohnAlex#2520) Characters you play: Nova Gibson (Moth), DELTA-V (Silicon), Zachary Hudson (Human) On average, how many hours do you expect to admin per week: Depends on external factors, however I would say at least a shift or two during weekdays, and many shifts on the weekend. I would assume around 18h on the low end per week. Days you are available to admin on: Depends on external factors, but I should be able to admin most weekdays, and all weekends. How old are you? Today is my birthday, I have just turned 18 years old. Do you have any SS14 experience outside of Wizard's Den servers, or any SS13 experience? Yes. After playing many hours on SS14, I decided to play SS13's Paradise station server and I have enjoyed the experience. I have a total of 170 hours on SS13's Paradise station so far. Otherwise, I have experience playing on Frontier station, Delta-V, and a handful of SS13 servers, however my playtime there isn't very much. Do you have prior administration experience (SS13/SS14 experience preferred, please also post a way for us to verify this)? I do not have prior administration experience, however I have been in leadership roles before through school, clubs, and external groups. Sadly, nothing that can be verified. Have you ever been banned from any SS14 or SS13 servers? Yes I have. In SS14 I was two-week role banned from command because I suicided as CE "within 20 minutes of the shift to become Hamlet". I forget when this was, but it was very very long ago. In September I was appeal-banned in SS13 from command due to suddenly disconnecting from the shift in a critical time as captain without informing anyone, not even admins. What happened was my parents messed with our router without informing anyone, disconnecting me from the shift until it ended. I successfully appealed my ban [here](https://www.paradisestation.org/forum/topic/24374-banned-by-tourte-ban-appeal-for-cmdr-johnalex/) (for more information) as soon as I was able to re-connect to the internet. I would also like to note that SS13 has a [different banning strategy](https://www.paradisestation.org/forum/topic/507-on-perma-bans/) than SS14 does. Admins have the ability to perform various tasks which are not available to the average player. Keeping the shifts fun for all and keeping the community a safe and welcoming place. I am also interested in creating small events every once in a while. What are you least interested in doing as an admin? Ban appeals and watching replays don't peak my interest. Answer the following questions in detail, so we can get a better idea of how you'd approach adminning. What role do you think game admins serve on our servers? First role game admins serve, is to keep the shifts and the community a safe and enjoyable place for all. Dealing with ahelps, rule breakers and shitters is an important role of an admin, but so is keeping the round enjoyable by maybe creating an event every once in a while. Welcoming and assisting new players is also great for the community. Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14? Plenty of reasons. I enjoy the community, the game, and I would like to keep it a safe place. I also want to gain admining experience that could be useful in future paths. One strong skill I have is teaching, I love teaching. I would love to be able to assist new players with questions and guide them through the game. I also feel that half the time, there is a lack of admins on some Wizards Den servers. I have seen an increase in shitters and hitler spammers in the past few months, however I have recently seen an increase in active admins, solving these problems quickly! How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the servers? Salamander is doing great, I love the current roleplay status there. Levi however, is a different story. I spend most of my time in the LRP servers, and I have had wonderful roleplay moments there, however every shift I spot someone who doesn't roleplay at all and it can sometimes ruin the experience for people. I would like to encourage and nudge people to role play a bit more. Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact? On the topic of problematic players, here I start with my, "Admining is like being a secoff." Secoffs are always taught to de-escalate and deal with situations before using your stunbaton/lethals or in this case, the ban hammer, and I feel like being an admin is the same. Using the ahelp system to figure the situation out, and following the Wizards Den Banning Policy if a ban is needed. Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this? In the game I've had some negative experiences, most due to either my lack of skill and "robustness", or due to other players lowering the quality of roleplay. If anyone needs any other help than on how to be robust, I would assist with any questions they have. As for the players lowering the quality of roleplay, I would be nudging them to roleplay a bit more, maybe give them some tips as well if it would be useful. As for nagative experiences with admins, nothing major. I do wish admins would reply to ahelps more often, for example if I ahelp someone, I would like a small resonse to confirm an admin is taking action on my ahelp. It's a small thing, but it lets me know my voice has been heard. Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it? I have had a lot of positive experiences with the game and game admins. I love the whole idea how the shifts are all structured the same and everyone has their own little role they play, and yet every shift is different. I strongly enjoy the uniqueness of every shift. Game admins are also amazing. I've had plenty of fun in admin events, or when asking questions using the ahelp feature. I also enjoy the rare time an admin goes to their test map, spawns some ghost roles and some xenos, and let dead people have fun while not messing with the current shift. I have a huge respect for admins who do that because it gives the people who have died something to do instead of waiting for the next shift, increasing their enjoyment of the game and creating a positive impact. The following are scenarios, respond with how you would handle each as an administrator. Respond with the assumption that you are an administrator with full access to the admin tools, and that you have all the knowledge needed to use these tools. Respond in detail, explain the reasons behind decisions you make and describe any assumptions you are making. When you need to make an assumption, it is preferred for you to describe how differences in the assumption would affect your actions. I would like to note here that I have read Space Law, the Wizards Den Admin Policy, the Wizards Den Banning Policy, the forum rules, and the server rules. I also have played around as an admin on a test server, so I already know some of the tools available to admins and how to use them. It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to "do something funny". Start of the shift with 60 players, nice. Traitors gamemode, also cool. If players observing me tell me to do something funny, doesn't mean I have to or should. Admin events shouldn't be done very often and any intervention that heavily affects many people must be voted on by the players and done on Extended gamemode. If I was allowed and wanted to, I might spawn a single basketball hidden in maints or do something very small that doesn't affect many people. Perhaps I could teleport to my admin map and do something funny there. Otherwise I would probably ignore it. You see a clown using crayon to write on the floor in front of security. The clown writings are negative things about security, like "shitsec". A secoff tells the clown that they're being arrested for vandalism, stuns them, and cuffs them. Before the secoff is able to get the clown into the brig, a passenger slips the secoff, causing them to lose their baton, then uses the baton to stun another secoff that comes to help as the clown runs away. The passenger escapes through disposals. Having heard an AOS radio callout, the detective enters maintenance near disposals and shoots the passenger to crit. There are four players in this scenario, the clown, the passenger, the secoff, and the detective. So a clown writes "shitsec" on the floor outside of security, it can be annoying to see that, however nothing is wrong here unless the clown starts swearing hard or uses slurs. The officer states what the clown is to be charged with and then arrests the clown, good work. No action should be taken so far. A passenger slips the first secoff, steals the baton and stuns a second secoff as the clown escapes? Assuming the passenger is an antag, this is fine and no action needs to be taken. If the passenger was not an antag, this would count as self-antaging, "Intentionally making yourself a major problem/annoyance/disruption for the crew or other players at large while not an antagonist is forbidden ... but it becomes self-antagonism when it begins to degrade the station at large or cause a significant issue, or is simply done for no purpose other than to be annoying." and so I would ahelp the passenger to figure out why they prevented security from arresting the clown, and why they stole the baton that is restricted gear IC. According to the banning policy, self-antaging would be a warning, up to a 12 hour game ban maximum for the first offence. I would check the passenger's admin remarks to see if they have done this before, and either way I would add another admin remark with a quick message saying, "_player's username_ slipped a secoff, preventing an arrest and stole a secbaton while not being an antag" and I would give the passenger a warning (assuming it is their first offence). The next part here about the detective criting the passenger on an AOS call? This is very odd as the call was only to arrest on site, and there was no reason to use lethals on a passenger who is only armed with a secbaton, There are many non-lethal ways of arresting the passenger without shooting them with lethal shots, regardless of if the passenger was a syndicate or not. Hopefully the passenger recieves medical treatment. It sounds to me the detective over escalated the situation and I would ahelp the detective to figure our their perspective on the situation and why they did what they did, giving them a warning assuming it was their first offence, and adding an admin remark to the detective. You and another admin have been adminning for around an hour. The rate of issues has been easily manageable due to having 2 admins. Neither of you have been talking in admin chat. You are using ahelp to warn a player for breaking a rule when the other admin joins the ahelp and confirms that it is against the rules, but that it's fine in this case and they can ignore the rule for the rest of the round. You haven't taken any other admin actions yet, such as applying a ban or writing a note. Not talking in the admin chat doesn't sound like a good start. Admins should be communicating with each other to better coordinate their efforts. If another admin wanted to let me know something was indeed against the rules, say if they were agreeing with me. I would suggest they use the admin chat rather than making the ahelp a three-way conversation. Admins in my opinion could work together on a single ahelp, but it should feel like the person is speaking back and fourth to an admin collective, rather than a three-way chat where the admins are talking to someone, but also to each other in someone's ahelp. The second part about the admin allowing someone to ignore a rule for the rest of the shift sounds very odd. Rules are there for a reason, and I don't see why someone should be exempted from following one of the rules. While I don't know who the person I am warning is, or what rule they have broken, it doesn't sound like they should be allowed to ignore a rule for the rest of the shift. Assuming I'm still learning, I would probably let the other admin deal with it as I could be in the wrong, but I would also use the admin chat to ask the other admin why they did that, and I would probably inform another admin about the situation if I feel the other admin was in the wrong. Assuming I am no longer a trial admin and that I know what the other admin did was wrong, I would start messaging the other admin in the admin chat, and in the ahelp I would tell the player NOT to ignore the rule until the two of us can chat so I can get the second admin's reasoning for saying that. I feel this question could also be improved on for future applications, as it doesn't give much information so applicants need to assume a lot. Perhaps the user is a friend to the second admin, meaning the admin there is breaking a lot of rules, or possibly the second admin doesn't, or has a lot more experience than I do. I would tend to trust someone with more experience than I do, however getting a third opinion on discord sounds like the right thing to do.

  37. Don't worry, it was directed toward people who just think that "ooh I'm productive by saying 'go to a diff server' and 'fork it' LOLMAO this will get them". IIRC the point of upstream was to be an SS13-like enough where forks could pop off and do their own thing (citation needed). I also don't think any created fork prior to grid inventory/inventory rework has rebased (citation needed) - could be wrong, but many people don't like grid inventory at all. I honestly like the inventory rework and I understand how hard it could've been to code in grid inventory - but honestly? I just think that grid inventory feels... uncanny. The whole point of the inventory rework was to 1. refactor code and 2. make it similar to SS13's inventory system. I'm not sure about 2, but it definitely was similar to SS13's system with item limits, sizes and more. The photo is from YogStation - a /tg/ derivative of SS13. Many (if not all) servers use a similar storage inventory to this - a bunch of squares lined up. If the bag was full due to storage/item capacity, it would turn red. Otherwise, you could put it in there. Compare the actual grid inventory to the SS13 storage. I personally just find grid inventory super weird - but I don't like arguing.

  38. Considering this ban is not within guidelines, I have decided to accept this appeal. Please keep in mind that while mistakes happen, we still do not allow the use of other languages on our servers. This applies to both IC chat and OOC. As for round removing your targets or your colleague's targets as an antag, I see no issue in doing so within reason. I don't know if your last ban was while you were offline, so just to make sure you didn't miss it, please make sure you're not doing things like antag rolling, suiciding roundstart, or using info from death.

  45. That's the point I was making, what you've listed here I consider an issue in power creep for salvage/cargo. Salvage does all of the above yet has no accountability OOC or IC because they are not present or reliant on station, they can perform the roles of engineers with easy access to tools, insuls, materials and hardsuit. They can perform the roles of a paramedic for the same reason, they are actually better at fighting off nukies than security department due to having jetpacks and (multiple) lethal guns from essentially roundstart. There's just too much utility and power concentrated into one job that has no real responsibility or need for the rest of the station. It's not meant as an insult to the players, you can't blame the players for how the job is designed.

  46. = How to appeal = It is unlikely that you will have a second chance to appeal a game ban. If you are angry or upset about your ban, it is highly recommended you wait a day or two before posting an appeal so that it has a higher chance of success. Make sure you are logged into the forums with your Space Station 14 account. Appeals made on accounts other than the one which is banned will be closed. Copy and paste the correct template into your post in the Ban Appeals Subforum, then delete anything after the colons and fill it in with your information. Please note that we only handle bans for the official Space Station 14 game servers, which are titled "Wizard's Den". You do not have to grovel and suck up to us. We are human beings. You are a human being. Please act like a normal person talking to their equal, and we will treat you the same. If you are appealing bans on multiple platforms, like a Discord ban and a game ban, make separate appeal posts. Do not combine both appeals into the same post. If you already have an open ban appeal for the same platform, do not post another. Write a new comment under your currently open ban appeal. Please do not mess with the formatting & colors of your appeal to make it as annoying as possible to read just because you can.
