  2. I played SS13 a while back but only for a couple of days so I have basically no experience. I'm familiar with basic controls and stuff but I still don't know how a lot of the jobs work. Whenever I try experimenting and learning stuff I end up getting arrested or killed by the security. Is there a way to get familiar with a particular job role without messing up an existing game? Is there like a test server that I can experiment with? Ty
  3. Unfortunately i didn't have time to edit any spelling mistakes. Apologies ahead of time.
  4. In-game Username: Samtaro Discord username: Samtaro Characters you play: Tilty Scales, Joe Mendez, Davina Nomad On average, how many hours do you expect to admin per week: 8 - 10 Days you are available to admin on: Friday, Saturday, Sunday How old are you? 30 Do you have any SS14 experience outside of Wizard's Den servers, or any SS13 experience? Yes Do you have prior administration experience (SS13/SS14 experience preferred, please also post a way for us to verify this)? I administrate the Salacord, aka salamander Discord , Admins in the ss14 team can testify for this statement. Have you ever been banned from any SS14 or SS13 servers? No Admins have the ability to perform various tasks which are not available to the average player. An incomplete list of these tasks is: in-game rule enforcement, in-game events, ban appeals, and out-of-game rule enforcement through things like replay/log reviews in response to player reports. With these, and any other tasks you're aware of in mind, answer the following two questions. What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin? Primarily working on audit logging , verifying stories of ban appeals. I would be very interested in learning this side and also front end work like admiring rounds. What are you least interested in doing as an admin? active intervention of rounds and events. I like when events or situations come up naturally in the round personally. Answer the following questions in detail, so we can get a better idea of how you'd approach adminning. What role do you think game admins serve on our servers? Creating positive experiences for the players. This can come in the form of events, enforcing rules, going through logs of player actions to verify ahelps, generally just watching over the round and helping newer players Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14? I want to help improve the RP atmosphere within the game. I personally have noticed a lot of scenario's on MRP servers that i feel like needed intervention. In order to create a more positive experience, i personally feel that we are the change that we seek, and as such wish to be an admin to give back to the community. How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the servers? MRP servers need some improvement , i see alot of people join from LRP servers and not even acknowledge basic SOP rules that are on the wiki. I have noticed alot people will just valid hunt or just outright do a job that isn't their own. An example this is in medical where people try to serve themselves when there are clearly medical available. I do not like this mindset. For this specific case, it just ruins the idea of being a doctor. Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact? Encouraging good RP and behaviour through inclusion of players in event roles, Giving feedback at the end of the round to players about how to approach certain situations that come up. Keep a positive attitude and open mind to the best of their ability when discussing ahelps with players. Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this? I have had concerns with the way feedback was given. A specific example was when receiving feedback from an admin a year ago called Nairod. The conversation started out as accusatory as to where my actions were leading in regards to having a pocession of a PDA. I became defensive rather quickly because I knew what I was doing was the right thing from my perspective. However it became clear how this could be perceived as rule breaking as I could be just stealing the PDA. We had a back and forth until I was threatened with further action to be escalated rather than trying to get my point of the story. I promptly ended the argument because I didn't feel like this needed to be escalated. Learning from this interaction and understanding that admin's aren't mind-readers, I would possibly change my approach as an admin to keep an open mind. Open questions about someone's understanding of the rules , can help me find weaknesses in understanding a player would have about the situation. Asking a player why they did something for example would give the player room to either show a lack of understanding in the rules. This would be further backed up by the notes on the player. If there was anything similar they have done, i would also reference that behaviour and discuss why I'm taking the action I am taking. Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it? Ironically from the same admin, about a year later from the negative experience. I was expressing concern at being bullied because my character was vulnerable to harassment (Narcoleptic). This bullying had occurred due to myself taking a CMO role that someone in the medical team wanted. For the entirety of the shift their friend and them went out of their way to make my job harder. This caused anxiety and stress for myself personally. Nairod went through the logs and explained action was taken in regards to my concerns. This made me feel like i was being heard rather than being dismissed. The following are scenarios, respond with how you would handle each as an administrator. Respond with the assumption that you are an administrator with full access to the admin tools, and that you have all the knowledge needed to use these tools. Scenarios intentionally leave out information so that you can describe how different details would affect your response. Respond in detail, explain the reasons behind decisions you make and describe any assumptions you are making. When you need to make an assumption, it is preferred for you to describe how different assumptions would affect your actions. It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to "do something funny". I would ignore them. Mainly because I don't feel I should be obligated as an admin to do something just satisfy 2 people wanting a quick laugh. If they stay in the round. I may recommend them to take ghost roles so that they can make their own experiences. This scenario takes place on LRP. The Head of Security has decided to coup the Captain. The Head of Personnel agrees with the Head of Security and has taken up arms in case it is necessary to aid in effecting the arrest of the Captain. The Captain is hiding with the Quartermaster in the cargo shuttle to avoid the Clown who has stolen the captains saber as a non-antag. There are five people named in this scenario. Please describe what actions, if any, you would take in relation to each, and why. I would first approach the captain and Quartermaster asking why does the clown have the captain's sabre. I am trying to create the scene using the information from two parties and maybe glean some insight on the captain's issue. based on the information the Quartermaster and the captain have given me, I may need to question further understanding of rules but , due to the immediate issues at hand I would then question the clown as to why they have the captain's sabre. If the stories correlate , and if there is no foul play in regards to greifing i would follow up on explaining the rule of being a non-antag role whether or not there was greifing, and what that implies in regard to having items like the captains. I would request they give the sabre back to the captain. I would request this from the clown, to prevent further issues or greifing that may arise by the clown having a captain sabre. If there were procedures in regards to non - antaging, and it being a first offense. I would go for the lightest punishment allowed. This is so the player knows not to do it again and also shows that we aren't afraid to act on misbehaviour. During questioning of anyone involved including the Head of Security and the Head of Personnel, i would reference their notes and any previous misdemeanours. This is so i know the type of player's i am dealing with, and whether this sort of behaviour is repeat behaviour. Following up with the other two , the Head of Personnel and the Head of Security I would first ask them questions about needing to arrest the captain. I would be using more open ended questions as to get the story from them. Following up on this I would also ask the captain and quartermaster their side of the story. Based on the answers, i would follow up on open questions about rules they thought they might have broken, and what they think they "can do better and why?" Based on answers I would provide a reminder that as head's of departments they should already have an understanding of the rules in game. If punishments in regards to SOP for admiring were needed, i would follow on that procedure, reminding them that being heads of the station gives them a lot of influence on the work happening on in the station. i would try to resolve any rule breaking , with procedural punishments where needed based on all parties involved. All parties would recieve a note in regard to their actions and action taken would be noted. This is so if there were any further rule breaks admins can reference that behavior. You are ahelping a player about an issue. The player has no prior noted issues. A few days earlier, an admin had told you that this type of situation should result in a temporary ban for a first offense, and you are confident that this situation is not substantially different from the type that admin was describing. During the ahelp, another admin pings you on Discord with a link to the ongoing ahelp and tells you to just indefinitely ban them and make them appeal. Excluding trialmins and headmins, all admins are equally "ranked". A headmin is not currently available. I would consider that the player in question has yet had a resolved ahelp to be considered a repeat offense, and therefore should be considered a first offence. Based on previous information a temporary ban would be emplaced and appropriate noting would be followed. The reason why i am okay with the temporary ban is because from my understanding, temp bans are usually at least a day or two. This means we can also wait for the other ahelp to resolve and act accordingly. This also gives time for a head admin to review the action that I have taken and possibly provide feedback as to whether further action should be taken. Based on the head admins decision , we would be able to come up with a conclusive punishment for the unresolved ahelp. all action would be noted and placed in player notes for future reference, so a similar incident doesn't occur.

  6. Ban reason: self-antagonism, evading ahelp Length of ban: it doesn't say so probably permanent Events leading to the ban: my internet was cutting out every 10 minutes or so during the round resulting in me coming back in random places, once even wedged in a wall behind a cryo pod which a borg had to let me out of. i was bored playing assistant since nearly everything else was time locked so i built a (very simple) maze in the escape shuttle docking area that people would have to walk through to get to the exit, with some materials i found. an admin bwoinked me saying "lets not" or something similar. around this time my internet cut out again. when i could reconnect i got the ban message. Reason the ban should be removed: seems a little excessive and i don't have a say in my internet cutting out, it is unfortunately an isp issue

  8. so for whatever reason be it wacky internet hijinks or the game thinks i just play too much LRP. Levi and Lizard wont let me connect giving me "No response from remote host" but mander lets me connect just fine, im wondering if Levi and Liz have their own seperate IPs so i can configure my networks firewall to Unfuck the connection *hopefully*
  9. Ban reason: Roleplaying as a speciest PAI Length of ban: Untill appeal Events leading to the ban: This was a very long time ago (more than a year) so the details are fuzzy. I remember joining as a PAI and being racist towards lizard crew members. Having played on ss13 many times before, every server i've played on didn't have this rule. Reason the ban should be removed: The ban was issued more than a year ago I think, and I've played a lot of ss13 in the mean time. I believe I deserve a second chance. I know that the server has rules that we all must follow, and I intend to follow the rules of this server to continue to play. Edit; Seeing as this was a while ago, Im noticing in my post history that I need a 'voucher' that I completely forgot about. Ill get one and edit it in soon.
  10. why dont hardsuits count as Shoes and gloves either? i dont get why you have to wear shoes or gloves when using them. it'd make being Diona maybe a BIT more barable since you're able to not Die to glass anymore

  16. Your previous ban appeal was denied and upgraded to a voucher ban. It has not been 6 months since that appeal. Please reappeal no earlier than 21/08/2024. A voucher of good behavior should be obtained from a well-known or decently active SS13/SS14 server. If it is a mainstream server, we recommend using that server's admin-help to ask for a voucher from one of the administrators explaining that you are trying to appeal a ban on SS14's Wizard's Den and want to show you have been a problem-free player during your playtime on the server. A voucher should be indicative of at least a few months of play. If the voucher is not from a mainstream server, let us know and we will figure out a way to verify it.
  17. Uh, ok...this isn't about any single person, I do not care about your specific ban. I know from being a nukie (as well as crew) that having the round just end due to a random explosion (not the nuke) feels terrible. As I asked the creation of a maxcap takes a certain amount of time and the situation where a maxcap is allowed only lasts like 300ish seconds (not enough time to make one) meaning in my mind maxcaps by nonantags are always against the rules.
  18. Ban reason: RDM Length of ban: perma Events leading to the ban: im going to be honest i dont full Remember what happend it was abut a year ago, but i can try to recall the events. So the importend event was that i picked a gun form a nukie and i wanted to rollplay as a antag while not being one, i killed a guy for no reason, and was being just a general shitter, not even like a funny or creative kind of shitter jsut an annoying idiot Reason the ban should be removed: well in the time durig the ban (abut a year) i played a lot on other stations and have chnaged my approach and understanding of the game, before i have still been a bit new to the game and evry round tried to do something big, now i understand that not evry round has to be something super interesting, sometiems you get boring rounds where you jsut have to do your job and thats it and thats not bad, people have to do their job and play a character not everybody will be in a spot light, if every person in the round went grey tide and started doing what ever thay want than this game would not exist. So to sumarize i belive i shuld be n banned becuse i have laerd the and understood the game better and well its been a year ago
  19. Junior_Trolagens - Racism Ban reason:"racist name. Negao cavalo" Length of ban: Perma Events leading to the ban: My character's name was "Negao cavalo" Reason the ban should be removed:Its just a shitpost name here in brazil and it wasn't used with the intetion to offend anyone,I apologize if anyone was offended. The origin of the name is also not racist,it came from this video:
  20. Ban reason: "49686 metacommunication with AndreiTaranuOfficial" Length of ban: Appeal only Events leading to the ban: I was a thief antagonist and one of my tasks was to steal CMO's headset. I was playing at the same time as AndreiTaranuOfficial who was playing with a character who's name I forgot. We met a round earlier however for roleplay reasons we acted like we didn't know each other. I had chameleon clothing and a voice mask. I set up a trap for CMO as I couldn't kill him myself due to thieves being pacifists. AndreiTaranuOfficial started following me and saw me changing the appearance of my chameleon clothing. I was sure he knew I was an antag but didn't call me out and started following me. I showed him the trap and gave him 20000 spesos to keep his mouth shut. Throughout this entire interaction I only talked once or twice to not give away the fact I wasn't actually the person I had set as my ID to anyone else wandering around maints. He kept following me afterwards as I lured CMO to the trap and stunned him. He didn't help me nor CMO, and another person came along to help CMO and I got killed. I quit shortly after that as it didn't seem I would get revived any time soon and the day afterwards (today as I am writing this) I found out I was banned. I don't think I had any major interaction with AndreiTaranuOfficial before or after this event, and I don't think I met him before, though I may be misremembering. Reason the ban should be removed: I wasn't metacomming with AndreiTaranuOfficial. I wasn't talking to anyone at the time. I have never broken a rule in a Wizard's Den server, at least to my knowledge.
  21. features allow you to make a maxcap which works like a grenade, but ye, I was banned for creating a maxcap for education purposes (it was used in space only without damaging much), I got self antag and power gaming rule break. Let's see the self antag rule: Intentionally making yourself a major problem/annoyance/disruption for the crew or other players at large while not an antagonist is forbidden (referred to as "self-antagging"). Much of the behavior in this rule is an in-character issue that Security should deal with appropriately, but it becomes self-antagonism when it begins to degrade the station at large or cause a significant issue, or is simply done for no purpose other than to be annoying. This is a catch-all that encompasses a wide range of annoying and disruptive behavior. Smashing lights, destroying infrastructure and furniture, cutting power, spacing rooms, attacking random people unprovoked, handing out all-access, stealing high-risk items for no purpose (ex: nuclear authentication disk, captain's ID), or otherwise reducing the quality of life on the station are all things that can be referred to as self-antagonism. Overall, it says that you are not allowed to sabotage station procedures as a nonantag. Let's see what I have done: Made a maxcap, explained how it works to other atmoses and an engineer, blew it up in space without hurting station at all. Where did I sabotage station procedures? Unknown. Now let's see the power gaming rule: Don't rush for or prepare equipment unrelated to your job for no purpose other than to have it "just in case" or to make it "for the end round" (referred to as "powergaming"). We will take a look at this specific point: Don't manufacture weapons, bombs, death poisons, or anything similar before you know of any threats to the station or any reason you would need them. Making things "for the end of the round" when the shuttle docks with Central Command is also forbidden. This point is quite controversial, but as it basically describes, without any known threats or a valid reason you can't manufacture dangerous facilities. In my case I had a valid reason, teaching people how to make it and I didn't use it against antags that round. Plus I didn't harm the station majorly and there was no trouble with that.
  22. This has been a recurring issue on Lev due to certain atmos techs always making maxcaps when ever war is announced or when stealth ops are discovered. I know the rule is generally maxcaps are not allowed for nonantags as they are akin to mass sabatoge of your own station, however, when the situation is truly dire (armed nuke) most things are allowed (even suicide bombing). My question is the creation of the maxcap is always a "just in case" which is explicitly against the rules for nonantags. There is simply not enough time to create a maxcap and move said maxcap in range once the nuke armed so would not the creation of a maxcap by any nonantag always be against the rules?
  23. Due to your attempt to evade your ban, you are banned indefinitely. You may appeal your ban, but only at least 6 months after your last ban evasion attempt, and only with a voucher of good behavior from another SS13/SS14 server. Earliest acceptable appeal date: 27/06/2024
  24. Here is section 1 and 2 on our Server Rules for ban evasion Any attempt to circumvent a game ban will result in an automatic appeal-only ban that is only appealable after a minimum of six months with a voucher of good behavior from another SS13/SS14 server. Attempting to evade job bans by gaining access to or working in the capacity of a job you are banned from will result in an appeal-only ban. Regardless of your success, a ban evasion attempt will be met with full punishment. This includes trying to create and use alternative accounts to connect to the server and other excuses such as "testing to see how the ban works" and "trying to get back into the server to talk to an admin". You are not slick.
  25. Ban reason: Abusive to staff Length of ban: Perma Events leading to the ban: said fkyu in PM's Reason the ban should be removed: I just wanted to answer somehow to admin, since I was from school and been sleepy, so I just typed random letters to the question "Are you reading this? Please type anything to be aknowledged that you readed request", I didnt ment to say "Fuck you" for a staff, Im sorry if admin was offended. Hoping get unban
  26. its also on the engineers to keep the Tesla well maintained, you cant just set it up and ignore it, the Tesla Coils will take Damage overtime and break causing a tesloose. and much like a the singulo. requires somebody to watch and make sure nobody is breaking into engineering To CAUSE it to loose... And even still 99% of looses happen due to shit engineers. its up to them to maintain it.
